About Mountfield Winery
Nestled in the heart of Sussex, Mountfield Winery has been meticulously developed over the past 12 years to produce exceptional English sparkling wines. The winery released its 2016 Classic Cuvée and 2017 Rosé last year, followed by the 2015 Blanc dae Blancs in the autumn. All wines are available through their online shop, showcasing the estate's dedication to quality.
Established in 2012, the Mountfield vineyard was carefully selected after analysing multiple estate sites. Its south-facing orientation, elevation at 50-85 metres, and excellent protection from wind and frost provide optimal growing conditions. The soil, a mix of greensand and clay atop sandstone bedrock, offers a perfect mineral balance to nurture premium grapes.
An old dairy unit was thoughtfully transformed into a state-of-the-art winery, located adjacent to the vineyard. This proximity ensures the quality of the fruit is preserved during harvest, as grapes move seamlessly from vine to press without delay.
Housed in the estate's historic stables, the tasting room combines rustic charm with modern convenience. Its timber interior, contemporary kitchen, and wine store create a welcoming space for guests to relax and enjoy Mountfield’s wines.
Mountfield Winery’s commitment to excellence has been recognised with prestigious awards, including Silver at the 2019 Decanter World Wine Awards and Silver at the 2022 Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships.
