Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignac is a modern and resilient white grape variety developed by Valentin Blattner in Switzerland. It is a carefully crafted cross of Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling, with added resistance traits from other hybrid vines—making it a PIWI (fungus-resistant) variety well-suited to damp, cool climates.

In the glass, Sauvignac echoes its parents’ freshness. You’ll find vibrant aromas of apricot, ripe apple, lime, and subtle blackcurrant, carried by a crisp, lively acidity that remains stable even with age.

Though still rare—cultivated in small quantities in Germany and Switzerland (notably by producers in Mosel and Pfalz)—it’s gaining recognition for its quality. One standout, the 2023 Sauvignac from Domaine Chervet (Switzerland), earned 90 points from Falstaff.

For UK wine lovers, Sauvignac offers a refreshing, eco-conscious choice that’s aromatic, food-friendly, and perfectly adapted to our climate.
