About Alder Vineyard

Born from a challenge to redefine our family's use of land, Alder Vineyard sprouted from a shared passion for wine and the great outdoors. Our journey began over 10 years ago, planting 5,000 vines on the edge of Dartmoor, Devon. Little did we know this untapped corner of England would become a haven for exceptional English wine.

Our family's history at Alder Farm dates back generations. Once a thriving farm, the 1960s saw our grandparents pioneer Alder Sportswear, converting old sheds into a surf brand hub. Embracing diversification, we launched Alder Vineyard, nurturing our love for the outdoors and good wine.

2014's idyllic harvest sparked a new path. We partnered with Polgoon Vineyard to craft our first bottles and began vineyard tours. Enthusiastic responses fueled our growth, expanded vineyards, increased wine production and enhanced visitor experiences.

I (Tom) pursued winemaking studies to establish our on-site winery. In 2020, we unveiled our state-of-the-art winery, kitchen, and shop, solidifying our commitment to sharing English wine's beauty beyond the bottle.
