Oatley Leonora’s 2018 (6 Bottles) Bridgwater, Somerset, England

£114.00

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

Lemons, limes and grapefruit with some minerality on the palate. Dry and complex.

Made with the rare Kernling grape, a variety related to Reisling and shares it’s aging potential. Our Leonora’s wines happily age for more than 10 years, developing honey and orange blossom.

The 2018 vintage is dry, complex and starting to develop the classic “petrol” aromas associated with good Reisling and the lemon/lime is evolving into pink grapefruit. Pairs well with anything you would squeeze lemon on (oysters, perhaps?).

About Oatley Vineyard

Oatley Vineyard, nestled in the English countryside, is a rare second-generation family-owned vineyard. Founded by Iain and Jane in 1986, the vineyard's first vintage (1990) won an international award.

Fast-forward to today, and their son Ned and his wife Paula have taken the reins, leaving behind successful careers to raise their twins amidst the vineyard's idyllic setting.

In 1985, Iain and Jane traded corporate London for a rural life. With minimal knowledge of winemaking, they planted vines by hand and tended to their young family. The first harvest in 1988 was a communal effort, sparking a tradition of harvest lunches that continues to this day.

Under Ned and Paula's stewardship, Oatley Vineyard is evolving. New plantings include Pinot Noir and Cabeternet Noir, which will yield wines starting from 2025. As the family looks to the future, they remain committed to hand-tending their vines and crafting exceptional wines.
