Davis Weszeli discovered his calling in the form of this Kamptal winery in 2011, and since then, he has been on a mission to create authentic wines while upholding his commitment to sustainability and organic viticulture, and all the while following the principle coined by Davis himself. ‘Terrafactum’, the importance of the unique nature of the earth and terroir of Kamptal.

The art: Nutbourne wines are a family affair, made only from grapes grown on the estate, and every bottle features a Bridget Gladwin painting on the label, selected to complement the wine. This painting of the Seven Sisters cliffs was created high on the Sussex Downs on a bright, blustery day. it captures a kaleidoscope of colours, freshness and light from the sea, landscape and sky.

Astley Freya Sparkling Sec (6 Bottles) Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire, England

£179.00
by Wines by Cellars

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

Freya is our delightfully drinkable sparkling wine. Made entirely from Kerner, this semi-sweet (13g/L), fruity sparkling wine is made for drinking with friends, or sharing at parties. Consistently a best seller, and always one of our favourite wines.

Made of: 100% Kerner

Tastes of: Ripe apple & shortbread

Sweetness: Semi sweet (13g/L - "Sec")

Acidity: High

Time on lees: 65 months/5 years

Disgorged: November 2024

Freya is a fun alternative to traditional sparkling wines. The joyous, but not sickly amount of residual sugar balances nicely against the naturally high acidity of Kerner. Interestingly, the residual sugar in this vintage is the result of the secondary fermentation (consistently) not finishing. The result is a fantastic, but casual sparkling wine that makes a great gift, or a delicious pairing with fruity desserts.
