The palate is crisp with white peach and honey and has a balanced sweetness. It makes a perfect aperitif and goes equally well with richer pasta dishes, Asian dishes, mild cheeses and light desserts.

Frome Valley Paunton Medium Dry 2017 (6 Bottles) Bishops Frome, Herefordshire, England

£65.00
by Wines by Cellars

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

This is our good quaffing wine. It is made with huxelrebe and reichensteiner; this vintage has a touch of bacchus in it to round it out. It is designed to go with everything, or on its own as an aperitif; it goes with roast chicken or the latest boxset.

Dunesforde Queen of The North Sparkling Rosé 2020 (6 Bottles) York, North Yorkshire, England

£211.00
by Wines by Cellars

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

Dunesforde commissioned this Rosé in honour of Queen Cartimandua, Queen of the North (AD43-69). As leader of the largest and most northerly tribe in England, this powerful lady chose to form an alliance with the Roman invaders rather than be wiped out in futile battle. Made by traditional method using a blend of English Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this vintage demonstrates lively fruits, subtle aromas and a crisp finish. Bold yet elegant, designed for a queen.

Astley Freya Sparkling Sec (6 Bottles) Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire, England

£179.00
by Wines by Cellars

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

Freya is our delightfully drinkable sparkling wine. Made entirely from Kerner, this semi-sweet (13g/L), fruity sparkling wine is made for drinking with friends, or sharing at parties. Consistently a best seller, and always one of our favourite wines.

Made of: 100% Kerner

Tastes of: Ripe apple & shortbread

Sweetness: Semi sweet (13g/L - "Sec")

Acidity: High

Time on lees: 65 months/5 years

Disgorged: November 2024

Freya is a fun alternative to traditional sparkling wines. The joyous, but not sickly amount of residual sugar balances nicely against the naturally high acidity of Kerner. Interestingly, the residual sugar in this vintage is the result of the secondary fermentation (consistently) not finishing. The result is a fantastic, but casual sparkling wine that makes a great gift, or a delicious pairing with fruity desserts.
