Subtle grassy flavours and herbal notes of kaffir lime leaf and coriander combine with salty minerality on the crisp dry finish. It is light-bodied and refreshing with lower alcohol than most Bacchus and demonstrates uplifting lime acidity plus good length.
Best served chilled with shellfish such as steamed cockles and mussels. An ideal match for flat fish including plaice, lemon sole, brill or turbot served with salty samphire. Delicious paired with lemony asparagus. Also good with stir-fried vegetables seasoned with garlic, lemongrass, ginger and coriander. Balfour Skye’s Chardonnay 2023 (6 Bottles) Tonbridge, Kent, England
FREE SHIPPING ENGLAND WIDE
“A chardonnay for those who favour balance, freshness and sophistication” is how our Head Winemaker, Fergus Elias, described his newest vintage of Skye’s Chardonnay, from the superb 2022 harvest.
Inspired by our home, with flavours reminiscent of white blossom, thyme and fresh lemons. Coming from vineyards planted specifically for the creation of English Chardonnay.
Skye’s Chardonnay is made from Burgundy clones planted on Middle Strackney Wood and Old Eight Acre, our two warmest Chardonnay Vineyards which we pick last to maximise phenolic ripeness.
Here’s three reasons to try our Chardonnay:
1. Burgundian heritage: this wine comes entirely from grafted Burgundian vines, grown on Kentish clay soil.
2. Unoaked style: this is all about the character of the chardonnay – zesty, fresh and Chablis-like in style.
3. Lingering complexity: this is proof that you don’t need oak to make interesting wine. There’s plenty of texture from the extended lees age, battonage and full malolactic fermentation.
Tasting Note: A clean citrus-driven palate with notes of lime and melon rind. A delightful, aromatic and complex Chardonnay.
Winemaker’s Food Pairing: There’s a freshness and vibrancy to this wine which makes it an excellent pairing for fresh salads. Alternatively, it’s extra weight (balanced with the citrus character) creates a delicious counterpoint to oily fish dishes and shellfish.

This is our Little Waddon Vineyard sparkling ‘Col Fondo Rosso’ 2021
Our single estate Regent grapes grown here on the Jurassic Coast, sealed in tank with CO2 for a twenty-two day skin contact maceration to help break down the skins, followed by a wild fermentation.
Later blended with a portion of oak barrel fermented Triomphe D’Alsace to balance the acidity, and then bottled with approximately 10grams of sugar per litre which produces a second fermentation in bottle.
This produces a low intervention Sparkling Red wine that gives frizzante ‘little’ red bubbles!
Loganberry on the nose, a moreish taste of vanilla pods and blackberry fruit with red chocolate!
Col Fondo is a traditional Italian natural re-fermentation process in bottle: ‘Con il fondo’ translates literally to ‘with the bottom’ meaning sediment or lees is present; so if this bottle has been travelling we suggest you stand it up on it’s bottom in the fridge to rest a while before opening.
