The grapes are whole bunch pressed into a mix of stainless steel tanks and old Burgundy barrels for fermentation. The combination of tanks and barrels offers a depth and complexity that enhances aromas of elderflower, citrus, grapefruit, pineapple and white pepper.
We are excited to bring back the second edition of our GMF, an early release, champagne method sparkling wine. The 2020 vintage was the forever summer of Britain, adding to a long warm growing season with exceptional quality. Bottled under crown cap, we leave this opulent wine undisgorged, giving the benefit continued lees ageing in the bottle, adding to the texture and complexity. The wine spends a minimum of 6 months ageing on lees prior to bottling and secondary fermentation.

The Cape Mentelle journey is a true labour of love, born from humble beginnings in 1970 with just sixteen hectares of vines. Fast forward to today, and this iconic winery has carefully crafted each blend to showcase the unique characteristics of its terroir, resulting in wines that are both complex and approachable.
This wine is a vibrant and seductive blend of flavours, with a nose that's bursting with juicy yellow peaches, sweet melon, and citrus zest, all entwined with delicate hints of frangipani and honeysuckle. On the palate, the wine is rich and indulgent, with flavours of rock melon, pistachio, and lemon curd that are perfectly balanced by a zesty acidity. The skin fermented method applied to such aromatic varietals results in a wine with super powerful aromas of grapefruit, grass and tropical fruit. The palate is dry and crisp with soft tannins and a long citrussy finish. A very food friendly wine!
Winemaker's Notes: Not your typical white wine, a wine for the lovers of 'orange wines'. Small parcels of very ripe and rare (in England) Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat grapes were fermented on skins in the same way as you would a red wine for 7 days before being pressed. Only 500 bottles produced.
