Sugrue The Trouble With Dreams 2020 (6 Bottles) Haywards Heath, West Sussex, England
UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED
Wine is emotion. And every release of The Trouble with Dreams is emotional.
More than twelve years after what should have been the inaugural vintage of The Trouble with Dreams – from the vineyard that Dermot initially planted to make wine for the monastic order of Catholic priests at Storrington Priory – the 2020 vintage marks a new and significant development we could not be happier about.
The hopes of the 2008 vintage were dashed when virtually all the grapes were devoured overnight by birds ("That's the trouble with dreams", Father Paul McMahon demurred). However, exactly 10 miles west of Storrington a larger site of older vines on extremely chalky ground proffered their second crop... Coldharbour Vineyard has now featured in all of our vintages since 2019, and it's a vineyard that we have farmed ourselves since 2023.
Around a decade ago, the first Trouble with Dreams vintages went on sale – the 2009, 2010, and 2011 rapidly gaining critical acclaim as among the best sparkling wines in the UK. Every subsequent vintage has had big shoes to fill, and we’re delighted to say the 2020 lives up to expectations – while there's still mineral geology at its core, there's a little more richness to the fruit.

Juicy, crunchy, vibrant Pinot Noir all held in an elegant, very ‘classic’ structure. Concentrated brambles (blackberry) and black cherry, damson fruit overlaid with quintessential Pinot perfumed aromatics and subtle dry spice. Beautifully balanced light Pink traditional method sparkling wine with classic English Pinot character. Lovely floral and delicate strawberry fruit nose and crisp acidity
2017 vintage review in The Times by Jane Macquitty 'Bob and Sam make England’s best pink bubble in a pretty corner of the Cornish countryside. It’s constantly classy, champagne-method gem and bursts with zingy crushed-strawberry fruit. Wonder to the park with this and have a wonderful time. '
Described by Victoria Moore as ‘a triumph, it’s completely delicious – like a wild cherry blossom nose-kiss’. Jane Macquitty, the Times critic writes about the 2016 vintage: ‘Camel Valley’s strawberry scented Pinot noir rose Brut is ‘the best …’.
Praised by Matthew Jukes, English Wine Compendium Mail Weekend magazine "This is a phenomenal wine which is not only one of the finest rosés in the UK but also the world!"
Recommended by Saturday Kitchen’s Olly Smith and a strong pedigree: The 2010 vintage won a Decanter World Wine Award Gold medal, the UKVA Trophy for the best Sparkling Rose in England and was awarded first place in the MWs tasting of 90 English Sparkling wines in 2012. Knightor Winery Pinot Noir 2023 (6 Bottles) St Austell Bay, Cornwall, England
Free UK Delivery on Orders Over £60
Character: Light, Fruit-forward
Aromas: Cherry, Wild Strawberry, Spice
Flavours: Red Fruits, Gentle Oak
Style: A light and summery English Red.
Food Pairing: Pair with lamb, game, or enjoy on its own.
A pale red Pinot Noir, the colour is deceptive, not revealing the powerful red fruits hidden within. Full of wild red fruit characters on the nose, the palate is soft, with intense red cherry and gentle spice from the time spent on oak. The perfect red for summer, ideal with a BBQ.
Winemaker's Notes: Just the ripest Pinot Noir was used for this light red. The grapes were crushed and fermented partly in tank and partly in barrel. Throughout the ferment regular pump overs were conducted to extract a little more colour and weight. The oaked proportion of the blend then spent a further 12 months in oak before being bottled.
Wine: Still Red
Grape Variety: Pinot Noir
Body: Light
Sweetness: Dry
Alcohol: 12%
