This early ripening version of the much loved Pinot Noir grape packs lots of flavour and elegance.
Rich, ripe red made from Pinot Précoce and Pinot Noir grapes. Smoky mulberries and black cherries on the nose with an explosion of creamy dark fruits on the palate. Very long and moreish wine which has good structure and depth. Toasted vanilla oak flavours linger on the palate. This would pair well with duck or pheasant dishes and a good soft gooey cheese.

However, as the winemaking process was non-organic, this vintage will be offered exclusively to tour groups and will not be available for retail sale. Domaine de Cantagrils were among the first to plant and cultivate Piquepoul in 1983. The terroir of the domaine is characterised by beautiful red soils, with plots originally planted amongst an orchard of almond trees. Situated in the north of Picpoul de Pinet AOC, there is a strong continental influence, rather than maritime, with more humid morning fog, higher rainfall and warmer temperatures, which has a pleasant ripening impact on the fruit.
A delicate golden colour in classic Picpoul style, the bouquet of the wine is composed of ripe exotic fruits, sweet spices and anise, and light, clean and sleek minerality, and a certain zippiness.
