This 2023 vintage shows all the benefits of the long hot summer in the UK last year and is slightly more rounded and nuanced than our previous vintages, with strong aromas of pear and gooseberry on the nose and palate and with a deliciously smooth finish. Cielo e Terra has dual roots in the Veneto region: the Cielo family and the winemakers of the Cantine dei Colli Berici. The Cielo family’s bond with the land dates back to 1908 in the Vicenza countryside, near the Castles of Romeo and Juliet, where the great-grandfather had bought Casa Defrà, a small farm with a vineyard. They enjoy making wines with passion and innovation to create signature versions of traditional Italian wines, looking for the right balance between personality and easy-drinking.
This wine reveals a delicate light pink hue, reflecting its fresh and vibrant character. The bouquet is lively and persistent, offering inviting fruity aromas with notes of pineapple and strawberry. On the palate, it is soft and slightly mineral, delivering a well-rounded, balanced profile. Fruity nuances continue through the finish, which is smooth and enduring, with a gentle aromatic lift that adds finesse.

Our Ortega is a delicate, precisely made wine, which has been produced using a combination of natural and selected yeasts. This year’s vintage showcases everything we love about Ortega as a variety - a nose of tropical fruit and on the palate a herbal, saline finish.
Winemaker Adrian Pike explains "We were really proud of what we released last year, but quite simply, the 2023 vintage gave us riper fruit and that’s given all our releases a little more brightness and concentration of flavours, still with all the classic Westwell characteristics."
