A complex and textured 'orange wine' made with 100% skin-contact Pinot Gris and produced with minimal intervention from start to finish. The nose has layered aromas of ruby grapefruit, white strawberry, and orange peel, with raspberry and sour stone fruit flavours on the palate supported by soft and grippy tannins, a taut acidity and a long generous finish.
This wine is part of our new Don't Feed The Ponies range of more experimental wines, a reference to a campaign on Dartmoor National Park to discourage visitors from feeding the wild horses that roam there. Ashdown Boundary Block is made from 100% Merlot grapes. Aged in old oak barrels for 19 months. Light to medium bodied with a ruby to garnet hue. On the nose aromas of plum, blackcurrant, blackberry, almond, rhubarb, Cherry Bakewell and vanilla leading to flavors of cooked cherries, black currant jam, vanilla, cranberries and blackberries.
It is smooth with a good length. Its tannin structure is well balanced and delicate, while still delivering an intense and complex taste.
