Monte del Frà (meaning ‘land of the monks’) gets its name from the late 15th century, when a group of Friars formed a monastery on the land. Some hundred years later, the friars leased 25 hectares for the cultivation of vineyards and fruit trees. You can, in fact, still see this document today in the Vienna’s historic library. Fast forward several centuries, and Monte del Frà is now in the very capable hands of the Bonomo family. For over six decades the family have farmed this land, now resting firmly with the third generation; Marica, Silvia and Massimo Bonomo.
Delicate scents of berry fruits, raspberries, redcurrants, and wild flowers, accompanied by light and refreshing hints of green apples and by spicy tones, cinnamon, cloves and vanilla.

Josef Chromy is one of Tasmania's most famous influential wine figures, having owned and developed some of the state's most prominent wineries, including Rochecombe (now Bay Of Fires), Jansz, Tamar Ridge and Heemskerk vineyards. In 2007 he established the winery that would bear his name, which quickly became one of Tasmania's leading wine producers.
A vibrant nose of zesty lemon, lime, and kaffir lime leaves, complemented by subtle hints of roasted fennel and bay leaves. On the palate, it’s juicy and refreshing, with lively acidity and a fresh, vibrant character. Ashdown Boundary Block is made from 100% Merlot grapes. Aged in old oak barrels for 19 months. Light to medium bodied with a ruby to garnet hue. On the nose aromas of plum, blackcurrant, blackberry, almond, rhubarb, Cherry Bakewell and vanilla leading to flavors of cooked cherries, black currant jam, vanilla, cranberries and blackberries.
It is smooth with a good length. Its tannin structure is well balanced and delicate, while still delivering an intense and complex taste. Enjoy this wine with roast beef, mushroom risotto, or game dishes. Well-balanced acidity and medium body create a crisp, lively texture that carries to a refreshing finish.
