Originally from the German region of Pfalz, Bacchus was created in the 30s as a cross between Silvaner, Riesling and Müller-Thurgau. Launched in 2015, Valentin Leflaive was granted the status of ‘négociant-manipulant’ in 2020 enabling the company to manage the whole production chain including the purchase of grapes. A boutique winery was opened in Oger with a traditional ageing cellar dug deep into the chalk. Chef de Caves Christophe Pitois, who looks after the important relationship with the growers, is assisted by talented enologist Clément Galois. Both are from the Champagne region.
The colour reveals golden yellow reflections and a fine effervescence. The nose is expressive, with notes of ripe fruits such as white peach punctuated by brioche and toasted aromas. The attack is creamy and complex. A beautiful aromatic palate finishes on refreshing lemon and citrus notes.

Palacios Remondo is a family-owned winery based in Alfaro, in Rioja Oriental, the warmest and most easterly part of the Rioja appellation. The soils here are silty and alluvial and the semi-arid Mediterranean climate is well-suited to growing Garnacha, a variety that is finally coming back into the foreground in this region, after decades of being supplanted by the more popular Tempranillo.
This wine has great phenolic maturity and a salty herb-sour edge to intense almost tarry dark Garnacha. The palate has a fantastic acid-tannin reach which drags clay spice and floral red berry along and along and along ... It’s long, complex, fresh, vital and complete.
