A vivacious and refreshing, lower alcohol crisp dry white wine with lots of zesty appeal. Pale lemon hue with a flash of green and a few legs. Aromatic floral notes of lemon blossom and elderflower combine with green apple, lemon zest and gooseberry. It also has herbaceous notes of lemongrass and a faint hint of nettle on the nose. The palate is dry with racy acidity and vibrant freshness. It has attractive citrus flavours of juicy grapefruit and tangy lime which mingle with ripe gooseberry and kiwi-fruit. Subtle grassy flavours and herbal notes of kaffir lime leaf and coriander combine with salty minerality on the crisp dry finish. It is light-bodied and refreshing with lower alcohol than most Bacchus and demonstrates uplifting lime acidity plus good length.
Best served chilled with shellfish such as steamed cockles and mussels. An ideal match for flat fish including plaice, lemon sole, brill or turbot served with salty samphire. Delicious paired with lemony asparagus. Also good with stir-fried vegetables seasoned with garlic, lemongrass, ginger and coriander. When Melbury Vale first built their winery, that vintage yielded a very small crop of what became the original Signature wine. It was a one-off bottling that represented a light fruity red wine that could be enjoyed throughout the summertime. Fast forward a few years later and our winemaker, through some blending trials, found that some of the 2018 red blend mixed with the 2018 rosé wine in tank created a juicy, fruity, flavorful light red we couldn’t stop sipping. The 2018 rosé was slightly different from the 2019 Virtue we bottled, so we decided to use the rosé in a fun, experimental way. While it’s not typical to blend red and rosé wine, once the blending started we felt like we had created something novice wine lovers all the way to oenophiles would enjoy and appreciate. On the nose you immediately pick up notes of wild cherry, fig, and bramble, while the palate is a burst of cranberry, pomegranate, and hibiscus. Best served slightly chilled, this is a crowd pleaser and is a great base wine for a party jug of a sangria type wine cocktail.
Food Pairings: charcuterie spread with cured meats, hard cheeses, grilled peppers, artichokes, and olives. Could also stand up to any dark chocolate dessert because of the bright fruitiness. Also try with balsamic macerated berries.

Our pairing guide: This is a light, summer fruit flavoured red. Our winemaker recommends serving this lightly chilled (just 10 minutes in the fridge before uncorking). The fresh fruit flavours and low tannins mean it will complement, rather than overpower, delicate flavours – making it ideal with white meats, roast vegetables, mushrooms and even herby lamb. Ferg had it with a butterflied leg of lamb marinated in harissa and Moroccan spices cooked on the BBQ and can confirm this pairing is also quite good

Domaine Deux Roches is based in the village of Davayé, in the Mâconnais, and is jointly owned by Jean-Luc Terrier and Christian Collovray. Their 50 hectares of vineyards largely lie between the twin escarpments of Solutré and Vergisson and showcase the diverse terroirs of this region.
