Gusbourne Late Disgorged Blanc de Blancs 2013 (6 Bottles) Appledore, Kent, England

£630.00
by Wines by Cellars

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

The extended lees ageing of this wine brings with it a complexity and creamy mouthfeel, showing toasted brazil nut, freshly baked croissant and pastry along with bright citrus fruits, lemon sherbet, stone fruits and a striking mineral note.

Every year, we release a small number of late-disgorged wines. These are particularly luxurious and fine thanks to a special winemaking technique.

If you’re already familiar with Dom Perignon’s Plénitude or Bollinger’s RD, then you know the magical combination of freshness allied with delicious flavours of brioche, cream, butter and toast that characterise late-disgorged wines.

But how does this kind of ageing alchemy happen? The answer lies in the lees.

Isabel Estate is one of the original Marlborough vineyards with some of the oldest vines in the region on original rootstock. Under the leadership of Chief Winemaker Jeremy McKenzie, the winery continues to build its reputation for award winning Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir but is also producing world class Chardonnay. Recognised and awarded, the estate has won. All fruit is estate grown from the 54 hectares of vines, most of which are now organic.

This Chardonnay is a powerful and complex wine displaying notes of gunsmoke, white peach, and nectarine, with hints of lemon and lime. The palate shows roasted almond and brioche notes with an underlying grapefruit citrus note giving the wine length and vibrancy. Mineral.
