English-grown Bacchus grapes produce aromatic, fresh and crisp wines similar in style to Sauvignon Blanc but with their own distinctive aroma profile.
As is typical of the varietal, our 2022 Bacchus is pale, with a crisp light mouth feel and recogniseable aromatic complexity.
The diversity of aromas can range from herbaceous (tomato leaf, basil, sage, nettle, asparagus, grassy) to citrus (lime zest, lemon, grapefruit) to tropical fruit (medlar, mango, passionfruit) to floral (elderflower, honeysuckle) with the intensity ranging from punchy and intense to more subtle and elegant.
Our style of Bacchus aims for intriguing aromatic complexity and subtle elegance which we believe the 2022 delivers in abundance.
More about the Bacchus grape
The variety originated in Germany in the 1930’s as a cross between Muller-Thurgau and Silvaner x Riesling which has helped contribute to its complex nature. In order to enhance this complexity and build ‘terroir-character’ into our wines we blend multiple unique batches picked on different dates, split into different press fractions and fermented with different yeasts.
Food Match Suggestions: The crisp acidity and freshness makes Bacchus perfect as an appetising aperitif wine. It also pairs beautifully with English asparagus or goats cheese as well as seafood such as dressed shellfish or stronger flavoured salads such as Caesar or rocket.

Inspired by our home and delicately pale to look at, this still wine blend of the traditional champagne varieties (Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay) shows just what English rosé is capable of. Coolhurst Demi-Sec Rosé Vintage 2017 (6 Bottles) Horsham, West Sussex, England

2017 was a cracking vintage for Pinot Noir. A pale salmon colour with a fine mousse, this is a off-dry wine. The sweetness is subtle, carried by bags of red fruit, cranberries, rhubarb and strawberries on the front palate, and pronounced Pinot Noir character on the finish.
The profile is a natural partner for desserts and provides a wonderful counter to rich salty foods, cheeses and even spice.
This is an extremely limited production of less than 1200 bottles. Our first release, the 2016, sold out in under 3 weeks following a silver medal at The Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships 2020! This 2017 scored 91 points in the Tim Atkin MW England 2022 Special Wine Report, described as “expansive, subtle with herbal, raspberry and blossom notes, it continues to be the afternoon-tea wine of choice!”

The Cape Mentelle journey is a true labour of love, born from humble beginnings in 1970 with just sixteen hectares of vines. This wine is a vibrant and seductive blend of flavours, with a nose that's bursting with juicy yellow peaches, sweet melon, and citrus zest, all entwined with delicate hints of frangipani and honeysuckle.
