Domaine de Cantagrils were among the first to plant and cultivate Piquepoul in 1983. The terroir of the domaine is characterised by beautiful red soils, with plots originally planted amongst an orchard of almond trees. Situated in the north of Picpoul de Pinet AOC, there is a strong continental influence, rather than maritime, with more humid morning fog, higher rainfall and warmer temperatures, which has a pleasant ripening impact on the fruit.
A delicate golden colour in classic Picpoul style, the bouquet of the wine is composed of ripe exotic fruits, sweet spices and anise, and light, clean and sleek minerality, and a certain zippiness.

Fast forward to today, and this iconic winery has carefully crafted each blend to showcase the unique characteristics of its terroir, resulting in wines that are both complex and approachable.
This wine is a symphony of citrus and tropical flavours, bursting with energy and vibrancy. The nose is a riot of yellow grapefruit pith, green mango, and crushed lime leaf. Monte del Frà (meaning ‘land of the monks’) gets its name from the late 15th century, when a group of Friars formed a monastery on the land. Some hundred years later, the friars leased 25 hectares for the cultivation of vineyards and fruit trees. You can, in fact, still see this document today in the Vienna’s historic library. Fast forward several centuries, and Monte del Frà is now in the very capable hands of the Bonomo family. For over six decades the family have farmed this land, now resting firmly with the third generation; Marica, Silvia and Massimo Bonomo.
Vibrant ruby red colour. Fruity and spicy aromas such as red cherry, strawberry, raspberry, cranberry, cinnamon, cloves and black pepper. Light body with medium acidity, fruity and spicy the flavours remains true to the nose.
