This distinct Pinot Noir is the follow-up to the 2020 vintage which was awarded the Best Red Wine, Best Still Wine and Best Regional Wine in the UK at the 2023 WineGB awards. Hailing from the flawless 2022 vintage, this follow has already won Gold at the WineGB Awards before it was even released.
2022 was a long, dry and hot summer, with perfect ripening conditions here in our South Devon vineyard, with harvest taking place from mid-September to mid-October. All grapes were hand-picked and bought back to the winery, where we cold macerated them for two days, with 35% whole bunch and the rest crushed and de-stemmed before spontaneously fermenting on skins for 10-days. 35% of the wine was then matured in third and fourth-fill French oak barrels for between 18-24 months and some remained in stainless steel and was bottled without filtration.
The nose has elevated red fruit, wild strawberry, red currant, and cherry with a touch of spice and subtle oak. The palate is bright and concentrated with more red berries, that are then supported with a mouth-watering acidity, soft tannins and a long and complex finish.

The 2019 vintage began with abundant sunshine, a record-hot Easter, and a warm, wet summer. Despite challenges, careful vineyard management yielded clean, flavourful grapes. The blend includes 11% barrel-fermented wine and 12% aged reserve wines, with four years on lees for added complexity. Perfect for celebrations, it pairs beautifully with canapés and laughter. The wine presents a lemon/light gold colour, a generous bouquet of ripe pear, peach, honeydew melon, grapefruit and hints quince followed by well-defined and complex fruit characteristics, fresh crisp acidity and minerality with plenty of character on the palate.
100% Alsatian Clone Pinot Blanc, the grapes from our vineyard were handpicked, and pressed in October. After low temperature fermentation to accentuate the thiol aromas the wine was left in tank over winter but not allowed to go to malolactic fermentation, the juice was very clear and required minimal fining and developed a splash of fruits and flavours of fruit with crispy acidity.

Madeleine Angevine spontaneously fermented on skins for three weeks with indigenous vineyard yeasts for character, no filtration and matured under cork for two years. A unique expression of our flagship variety, with aromas of candied dried orange peel, dried flowers and honeysuckle. The palate is dry with grippy tannins and more orange peel flavours. This wine pairs perfectly with charcuterie, olives and mature cheeses. Do not chill too much and don't worry about the sediment, its natural and brings character to the wine.
This wine is part of our new Don't Feed The Ponies range of more experimental wines, a reference to a campaign on Dartmoor National Park to discourage visitors from feeding the wild horses that roam there. The source of the River Dart begins way up in the heart of the moors, and it's the river that influences how our grapes grow. For every bottle purchased from this range, we'll donate 25p to the Dartmoor Preservation Association to preserve the natural habitat.
