Owned by the Deniau family, Domaine des Vaublins has been a family winery for several generations. Since 2020 the Domaine is in the hands of the current generation Nicolas and Alexandrine, and together with Cedric Allion they are making some excellent wines under his watchful eye. Their 16 hectares of vines are located on the clay and limestone hillsides on the banks of the river Cher.
This Sauvignon Blanc showcases itself behind a golden hue adorned with green undertones, displaying impeccable clarity and remarkable depth. Its bouquet exudes the essence of delicate citrus fruits, particularly grapefruit, accompanied by a discernible mineral character. With aeration, the wine unveils invigorating hints of freshly squeezed lemon entwined with the essence of white fruit, pear, and green apples. On the palate, the wine possesses a crispness that borders on a steely sharpness, bursting forth with vibrant flavours of gooseberry, peanut, and nettle, courtesy of its ageing on lees.

Astley Acacia Barrel Kerner (6 Bottles) Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire, England

Undoubtedly a first for the UK, this bright, but noticeably barrel aged wine combines our unique old Kerner vines with an unusual 100% Acacia barrel. Great with a cheeseboard or white meats.
Made of: 98% Kerner, 2% Madeleine Angevine
Tastes of: Ripe lemon, Gently woody & textural
Sweetness: Dry
Acidity: Medium high/High
Barrel: Light but noticeable. 3 months in first use, light toast barrel.
The inspiration for our unusual 100% Acacia barrel came from the fact that we grow Kerner. This variety is famously grown in Alto Adige (Alpine Italy) where a traditional practice is fermenting and ageing it in Acacia. Compared to Oak, Acacia is more subtle, and adds flavours of honey & flowers.
For the barrel's first use, we aged our Kerner from 2019 for 3 months, followed by several years in bottle. The result is a mouthwatering but textural wine that tastes of spiced lemon, with a gently woody midpalate. Pair with cheese, white meats, and rich fish dishes.

Established in 1692, Hartenberg Estate should need little introduction, as one of South Africa’s oldest wineries. This Chardonnay is an enchanting blend of orange blossom, subtle notes of toasty brioche and bright citrus fruit on the bouquet, all enhanced by a pronounced limey intensity. Lean and linear in structure, hints of peaches and cream add a delicate layer of complexity, underscored by a zesty citrus note culminating in a long and satisfying finish.

This site, defined by its chalk and flint soils, gives wines that are bright and elegant, with power, structure and a crystalline quality. This example has bright citrus, alongside orchard fruit, melon and a mineral note.
Tasting note In the glass, this is light straw in colour with a delicate mousse. On the nose, this has strawberry, peach, and peach melba notes. The flavour profile is filled with vibrant red fruit – notes of wild strawberry, cranberry, raspberry, with red apple and ripe peach. Bright, elegant acidity matches with the juicy fruit to create a delicious, vibrant wine, with floral hints of rose and some red cherry pie. There’s a touch of spice from the lees ageing. Pale golden with subtle aromas of fresh apple and elderflower, our Brut Sparkling Wine is racy and fresh. Bottle maturation provides hints of biscuit on the nose, and butter on the palate. As with all our Sparkling Wines, it is made using the same traditional method found on the continent, with a secondary fermentation in the bottle.
However, using different grape varieties to those found in the traditional areas of France results in slightly less austere, more aromatic, fruity flavours which have proved to be consistently popular over the years.
