Astley Old Vine Kerner 2022 (6 Bottles) Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire, England

£169.00
by Wines by Cellars

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

Kerner (a relative of Riesling) is the pride and joy of Astley Vineyard. Produced from vines planted in 1971, Old Vine Kerner is our flagship wine intended for sophisticated dinners, or sharing with appreciative friends.

2022 produced some of the ripest Kerner we have ever experienced - harvested at over 12.5% abv. The result is an astoundingly aromatic and intense wine.

Made of: 100% Kerner (96% from a single tank)

Tastes/Aromas of: Tangerine, Fresh apricot, Orange blossom, Ginger

Sweetness: Dry

Acidity: Medium +

2022 was very kind to our Kerner. Harvested at record sugar levels, this rich & aromatic expression of Kerner is both joyous and fascinatingly complex. The 7 month fermentation, and an extra month on lees created a luxuriously textured wine that somehow managed to not overpower the primary fruit. Enjoy on its own, or alongside rich north European cuisine (roast pork, mushrooms).

Missing Gate Chardonnay 2022 (6 Bottles) Chelmsford, Hampshire, England

£93.00
by Wines by Cellars

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

A bit of an ice-queen Chardonnay. An elegant, aloof wine that feels as if it’s white linen ironed to a blade. A whisper of oak-spice trapped in steel. It’s a lemon-etched, stone-edged, coiled-up, taut slip of a wine. Lime, salt and spice. Mouth-watering.

Woodchester Valley Bacchus 2022 (6 Bottles) Stroud, Gloucestershire, England

£113.00
by Wines by Cellars

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

Recently voted one of the top five English Bacchus by Great British Wine, this wine is made from 100% Bacchus grapes picked from the wonderfully ripe 2022 harvest.

“Fragrant but refined nose, combining aromas of nettle, citrus zest & light stone fruit with more distinctive notes of white pepper & flinty minerality, The palate is whistle-clean, preserving the brilliantly bright expression & embracing the finely textured & incredibly appealing layer of minerality & lemon sherbert brilliance, “

Sugrue The Trouble With Dreams 2020 (6 Bottles) Haywards Heath, West Sussex, England

£265.00
by Wines by Cellars

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

Wine is emotion. And every release of The Trouble with Dreams is emotional.

More than twelve years after what should have been the inaugural vintage of The Trouble with Dreams – from the vineyard that Dermot initially planted to make wine for the monastic order of Catholic priests at Storrington Priory – the 2020 vintage marks a new and significant development we could not be happier about.

The hopes of the 2008 vintage were dashed when virtually all the grapes were devoured overnight by birds ("That's the trouble with dreams", Father Paul McMahon demurred). However, exactly 10 miles west of Storrington a larger site of older vines on extremely chalky ground proffered their second crop... Coldharbour Vineyard has now featured in all of our vintages since 2019, and it's a vineyard that we have farmed ourselves since 2023.

Around a decade ago, the first Trouble with Dreams vintages went on sale – the 2009, 2010, and 2011 rapidly gaining critical acclaim as among the best sparkling wines in the UK. Every subsequent vintage has had big shoes to fill, and we’re delighted to say the 2020 lives up to expectations – while there's still mineral geology at its core, there's a little more richness to the fruit.
