The vines at the Pizzolato estate are on pebbly banks of river deposit, which are irrigated by concrete channels that were put in in the 1950s during Italy’s reconstruction post-war. The Cape Mentelle journey is a true labour of love, born from humble beginnings in 1970 with just sixteen hectares of vines. Fast forward to today, and this iconic winery has carefully crafted each blend to showcase the unique characteristics of its terroir, resulting in wines that are both complex and approachable.
This wine is a symphony of citrus and tropical flavours, bursting with energy and vibrancy. The nose is a riot of yellow grapefruit pith, green mango, and crushed lime leaf. This family-owned boutique winery was founded in 1995 and dedicates itself to the production of super-premium, sites pecific red wine made in small volumes. Originally from Germany, the Glaetzer family settled in Australia in the late 19th century and were some of the earliest recorded viticulturalists in the Barossa Valley and Clare Valley. Today the winery is run by internationally acclaimed winemaker Ben Glaetzer, who is responsible for driving the brand’s considerable loyal following.
Glaetzer Wallace takes on the traditional Barossa Valley blend of Shiraz and Grenache in a modern way. The Shiraz brings backbone, flesh and body to the wine with the Grenache adding a soft, vibrant juiciness. The former will see a bit of oak while the latter remains unoaked to retains freshness. Hints of red currant, clove and spice on the nose. Fresh juiciness on the palate combines with supple tannin and pronounced flavours of liquorice and mulberry. A wine to enjoy in its youth that will also develop additional complexity over 6 to 8 years of cellaring.

Harvested from our vineyard in Wiltshire, this wine pairs perfectly with duck and lamb, or simply enjoy on its own. We recommend to serve this wine on the colder side of room temperature. Some English red wines offer a better taste when served chilled and this wine is no exception to that. However, if you prefer your wine wines on the warmer side this wine can do either.

Deep Cherry red rose develops a splash of fruits and flavours of cherries and blackberries, herb, spice and dried Orange peel; it has refreshing strawberry aromas with notes of brioche , which become accentuated after time in the glass with a long fresh finish.
A blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier The grapes were pressed in a traditional Coquard press. After fermentation the base wines were kept separate and remained on their gross yeast lees over winter to develop additional complexity and richness. The base wines did not go through malolactic fermentation. Bottled in May 2016 the Rose was disgorged on September 2021 and has spent 63 months on the lees.
