Heartland Wines is a joint venture from industry veterans and lifelong mates Ben Glaetzer (of Glaetzer Wines fame) and Nick Keukenmeester in Langhorne Creek, South Australia. From its inception in 1999, Heartland’s ethos has been to create wines of balance, texture and a distinctive Australian identity. Sustainability is the cornerstone of Heartland’s approach to viticulture. they encourage plantings of indigenous trees, grasses and bushes, practice rational water management, and eschew chemical treatments in the vineyards. They even have a herd of goats to keep the weeds down.
Vermentino originally hails from Italy's Liguria region and the Mediterranean Island of Sardinia. It has been grown in Langhorne Creek for around 30 years. Langhorne Creek is an ideal location for Vermentino with our maritime conditions. Look for a refreshingly aromatic and bright wine full of citrus, pear and lemon peel. Heartland Vermentino has a sea spray character that the wine is known for, with a mouth-watering, zesty, long finish.

Bacchus grapes are particularly well suited to our High Weald terroir, and produce a fresh, aromatic, crisp white wine. This 2023 vintage shows all the benefits of the long hot summer in the UK last year and is slightly more rounded and nuanced than our previous vintages, with strong aromas of pear and gooseberry on the nose and palate and with a deliciously smooth finish. A bright, crisp Chardonnay full of ripe citrus vibrancy with a touch of stone fruit. Easy to drink with just about anything.
Picked in October 2023, the grapes are a blend from two blocks; one is clone 121 from our younger 2019 vines and one clone 95 planted back in 2009. The juice was pressed and settled before fermentation at cool temperatures in stainless steel with added yeast.

Across a range of Kentish clay and chalk soils, only the best Chardonnay from Balfour’s top vineyards are found in this stunning wine. This vintage Blanc de Blancs from the fabulous 2018 harvest is only the third to be produced by Balfour in its 20-year history. A style which requires the very best conditions and ripest of fruit.
Tasting Note: Brilliant white gold, with a fine sustained bead and mousse. Clean and fresh with a touch of autolysis, white pepper and dried herbs.
Winemaker’s Food Pairing: Fish and chips or oysters. Is also a great match with Tunworth cheese.
