Made from exclusively estate grown grapes, the Gravel Castle Chardonnay is a zesty, fruit driven and un-oaked Chardonnay, created from Burgundian still wine clones.

This exquisite rosé is crafted primarily from Pinot Noir clone 777 (98%), complemented by a touch of Pinot Meunier (2%). The 2018 vintage delivered optimal ripeness, resulting in a fruit-forward and robust wine. After 48 months on lees, the rosé boasts complexity and finesse, with a dosage of 8 g/L and an alcohol content of 12%.

The Cape Mentelle journey is a true labour of love, born from humble beginnings in 1970 with just sixteen hectares of vines. Fast forward to today, and this iconic winery has carefully crafted each blend to showcase the unique characteristics of its terroir, resulting in wines that are both complex and approachable.
This wine is a symphony of citrus and tropical flavours, bursting with energy and vibrancy. The nose is a riot of yellow grapefruit pith, green mango, and crushed lime leaf. Back in our cellars once more following on from successful 2018 & 2020 vintages. This Rondo and Regent blend has been fermented on skins for three weeks and pressed into tank; before transferred into barrel. Individual Regent and Rondo barrels were selected to create this 50:50 blend.
Subtle oak notes on the nose merge well with black forest fruits and floral notes. A richer, darker palate than the single variety Regent yet a softer, smoother finish. 11.5%

In the Vineyard
Vines in Block 7 in the centre of the vineyard were chosen for our first Chardonnay. The vines are closely planted (5,000 vines per hectare) in soil with a distinctly sandy and rocky profile. This regulates canopy growth, lessening growth of both shoots and fruit. Lighter crops, from well ventilated, less vigorous canopies, enabled us to ripen the grapes to the desired quality level with minimal canopy intervention.
What's in the name?
'Two Beat Trot' is a dressage term for balance, making it the perfect name for our Chardonnay. Just like the elegant movement, this wine is beautifully balanced and complex.
Food Pairing
This will pair well with autumn vegetable dishes like pumpkin ravioli, roast chicken, and cheddar cheese.

100% fermented in neutral Burgundy barrels, full malolactic fermentation followed by periodic lees stirring.
Complex nose with aromas of juicy stone fruits, hazelnut and citrus zest wrapped around a core of minerality. The palate is rich, poised and expressive, with great texture and balance. The finish is long and focused, with lingering flavours of ripe nectarine and crushed almonds.
