Anthonij Rupert Wyne Protea Merlot 2022 (6 Bottles) Franschhoek, South Africa

£99.00
by Bancroft Wines

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

Anthonij Rupert Wyne was founded on the farm, L’Ormarins in Franschhoek. Originally owned by the late Anthonij Rupert, who passed away in 2001, the farm was eventually taken over by his brother Johann Rupert in 2003 and the brand named after him. It was Johann Rupert who constructed a state-of-theart winemaking facility, catapulting the farm into a prestigious wine estate. The focus is on terroir specific wines and therefore it would seem obvious that the brand is made up of an impressive portfolio of farms representing the best in grape producing locations. The portfolio is made up of L’Ormarins from Franschhoek, Rooderust from Darling, Riebeeksrivier from the Swartland and Altima from isolated Elandskloof. Each site offers optimum varietal specific growing conditions, allowing Anthonij Rupert Wyne to adhere to the requirements of their different brands.

The nose is warm and inviting, with aromas of fruitcake, blackberries, subtle spice, oak, and a hint of dark chocolate. The same approachable charm carries through to the palate, offering a delightful blend of red and black fruits like plum, mulberry, and soft Agen prune, complemented by notes of Christmas cake and gentle spice. This wine feels as comforting as a favourite pair of slippers, yet it boasts a solid structure that supports the fruit, with oak and tannins seamlessly integrated for a balanced, succulent ripeness. A deeper layer of dark chocolate and cocoa adds depth, lifting the wine beyond the ordinary.

by Bancroft Wines

Established in 1692, Hartenberg Estate should need little introduction, as one of South Africa’s oldest wineries. With a philosophy of combining decades of experience and knowledge of the local terroir and an innovative attitude to how it is cared for. By understanding and working with nature Hartenberg ensure that their wines are unique to their vineyards. This Cabernet offers up everything you`d hunt for in Bordeaux, yet this red is from South Africa`s Hardenberg. Deep black in colour with cigar box, pencil shavings and truffle overlaying the ripe, rich red and black fruit beneath. Judicious use of oak and good acidity provides an impressive structure which this pure fruit clings to, offering lingering, fine tannins on the finish.

Sandridge Barton Don’t Feed the Ponies Figgie Daniel 2022 (6 Bottles) Stoke Gabriel, Devon, England

£150.00
by Wines by Cellars

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

An energetic wine with a lively spritz. This wine is unfiltered and unfined and contains the lees in the bottle. Col Fondo means 'with the bottom' in Italian, referring to the leftover lees sediment. This is the method in which Prosecco was produced before being overly commercialised but is now regaining popularity.

This wine is light and spritzy with green apple, lemon rind, elderflower and yeasty characters. We recommend a gentle shake before serving to distribute the sediment.

This wine is part of our new Don't Feed The Ponies range of more experimental wines, a reference to a campaign on Dartmoor National Park to discourage visitors from feeding the wild horses that roam there. The source of the River Dart begins way up in the heart of the moors, and it's the river that influences how our grapes grow. For every bottle purchased from this range, we'll donate 25p to the Dartmoor Preservation Association to preserve the natural habitat.
