Ortega grapes ripen from the beginning of September – quite early for white grapes and therefore excellent in our rather damp Autumn climate.
It develops well in the bottle and produces wine of outstanding quality with a fine aroma reminiscent of peaches.
Not quite as dry as Bacchus, but not as sweet as Pinot.

Style: Grown in polytunnels, so more full bodied than a typical English red.
Food Pairing: Perfect with a Sunday Roast or other hearty meals.
Deep ruby in colour, with aromas of pepper, dark berries and spice. The palate is medium bodied with gentle tannins and a slight earthiness, flavours of stewed dark fruits and spices. The perfect wine for more full flavoured meat and mushroom based dishes.
Winemakers Notes: A cheats wine in many ways! In our climate we can not ripen either Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon as they simply ripen too late, so the grapes for this are grown under cover. The blend is 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet, the grapes are fermented with daily pump overs to extract more colour, depth and body. Towards the end of the fermentation the grapes are pressed and transferred to a mixture of French oak barrels where they remain for over a year. The wine is then bottled unfined and unfiltered.

With passion and purpose Red Hut was launched and embodies the spirit of New Zealand, they are inspired by the iconic red huts that shelter adventurers. This Sauvignon Blanc is bright and expressive, with aromas of lime, gooseberry and passionfruit, alongside hints of lemongrass and fresh herbs. The palate is dry and lively, showing flavours of green apple, lime zest and tropical citrus. The wine presents a generous bouquet of stone fruit notes white peach and honeysuckle with fresh citrus bursts. 100% Pinot Gris from an Alsatian grape varietal, the grapes were pressed in early October. After low
temperature fermentation the wine was left in tank over winter but not allowed to go through
