During the early years, Bodegas Lustau operated as an ‘Almacenista’. The Lustau family began bottling their own sherries and exporting by 1950. In the 1980s they expanded their range and introduced the Almacenista range concept of buying and maturing casks from small bodegas to share excellent quality names and styles with enthusiasts around the world. The Lustau Vermut Rojo NV is a stunning representation of the traditional Spanish vermouth, showcasing the unique and complex flavours of Jerez. On the nose, aromas of ripe red berries, dried fruits, and warm spices dance delicately, with a subtle hint of bitter orange peel lingering in the background. A pale red Pinot Noir, the colour is deceptive, not revealing the powerful red fruits hidden within. Full of wild red fruit characters on the nose, the palate is soft, with intense red cherry and gentle spice from the time spent on oak. The perfect red for summer, ideal with a BBQ.
Winemaker's Notes: Just the ripest Pinot Noir was used for this light red. The grapes were crushed and fermented partly in tank and partly in barrel. Throughout the ferment regular pump overs were conducted to extract a little more colour and weight. The oaked proportion of the blend then spent a further 12 months in oak before being bottled.

This blend replaces our highly successful Ditchling Reserve. Using Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir Précoce, the wine has been longer in reserve and a large proportion has been barrel aged before bottling. Long aging on the lees has ensured a rich, but still fruity balance. Also awarded a gold medal at the 2021 International Wines & Spirits Competition; the judges commented “Stunning nose of honeycomb, bruised apple and brioche – like a fine dessert with apple four ways. It has lovely poise, classy and complex all held in perfect poise by the bright quintessentially English acidity”.
