This off-dry vermouth has been hand crafted from distilled Sauvignon wine blended with Pinot Noir and a lovingly considered selection of botanicals.
Vibrant aromas of sweet orange, mint and kaffir lime leaf are complimented by bold black tea and sweet honeybush with a hint of bay leaf and toasted oak for added complexity. 2020 was a year like no other, whilst everyone was locked down at home, we were incredibly lucky to be able to get out into the vineyard and do what we do. With a local army of freshly recruited (furloughed) vineyard workers, we negotiated our way through a season that produced a small, very ripe and incredibly concentrated crop of fruit, most notably expressed in this opulent and fruit forward edition of our much loved Rosé. Even though the blend and process is exactly the same as previous wines, there is something different about this one, a purity, softness and elegance that makes the wine simply glide across the palate. We can’t wait to see how it develops over the years, but this really will be a hard one to keep.

Style: Grown in polytunnels, so more full bodied than a typical English red.
Food Pairing: Perfect with a Sunday Roast or other hearty meals.
Deep ruby in colour, with aromas of pepper, dark berries and spice. The palate is medium bodied with gentle tannins and a slight earthiness, flavours of stewed dark fruits and spices. The perfect wine for more full flavoured meat and mushroom based dishes.
Winemakers Notes: A cheats wine in many ways! In our climate we can not ripen either Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon as they simply ripen too late, so the grapes for this are grown under cover. The blend is 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet, the grapes are fermented with daily pump overs to extract more colour, depth and body. Towards the end of the fermentation the grapes are pressed and transferred to a mixture of French oak barrels where they remain for over a year. The wine is then bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Artelium Artefact #6 Barrel Aged Saignée Rosé 2022 (6 Bottles) Streat, East Sussex, England

A rare and unique expression of English Pinot Noir. Grapes harvested in 2022 were crushed and left on their skins for two days before fermentation in a single puncheon of high-toast oak, where the wine was left to age for 10-months.
Bright pink-grapefruit colour gives way to notes of ripe cherry, savoury citrus, tangerine peel and pipe tobacco.
The palate has a pronounced structure, defined by a natural freshness and gentle tannic grip. Rich toasted oak resonates with the charred wood depicted in the label. A long and memorable finish.
