Here is the first sparkling wine from the Davies family at Vale Vineyard in the Vale of Clwyd. The Seyval Blanc and Pinot Noir Précoce grapes fill a glass bursting with bubbles introducing aromas of red berries and flavours of ripe summer fruits.

Grown in Sussex, just 35 miles from our winery, the grapes are hand-picked and sorted in the vineyard. Whole bunch pressed and fermented using indigenous yeast in old burgundy barrels. The wine underwent natural malolactic fermentation and aged for a total of 7 months with frequent lees stirring. Our pinot meunier is a delicate interpretation of the variety lending itself to aromas of raspberry, mandarin peel, red floral notes, grapefruit, with hints of citrus zest, and dried cranberry.

This exquisite rosé is crafted primarily from Pinot Noir clone 777 (98%), complemented by a touch of Pinot Meunier (2%). The 2018 vintage delivered optimal ripeness, resulting in a fruit-forward and robust wine. After 48 months on lees, the rosé boasts complexity and finesse, with a dosage of 8 g/L and an alcohol content of 12%.

A beautiful, pale, shimmering gold, the 2014 Blanc de Blancs opens with aromas of freshly crushed ripe green apples, lemon zest, quince jelly and a gorgeous fresh ginger note. It has a toasty savouriness with the well-judged intensity of pastry and biscuit never overwhelming the elegant fruit. On the palate it has wonderful concentration and acidic structure. The Cape Mentelle journey is a true labour of love, born from humble beginnings in 1970 with just sixteen hectares of vines. Fast forward to today, and this iconic winery has carefully crafted each blend to showcase the unique characteristics of its terroir, resulting in wines that are both complex and approachable.
This wine is a vibrant and seductive blend of flavours, with a nose that's bursting with juicy yellow peaches, sweet melon, and citrus zest, all entwined with delicate hints of frangipani and honeysuckle. On the palate, the wine is rich and indulgent, with flavours of rock melon, pistachio, and lemon curd that are perfectly balanced by a zesty acidity. With passion and purpose Red Hut was launched and embodies the spirit of New Zealand, they are inspired by the iconic red huts that shelter adventurers. This Chardonnay is an expression of site and season. Aromas of white peach, citrus blossom and roasted cashew lead into a textured palate layered with ripe stone fruit, subtle oak spice and a touch of flinty minerality. The natural fermentation and extended lees contact add depth and complexity, while bright acidity provides length and freshness on the finish. Elegant, structured and cellar-worthy.

NECTAR FROM A DIFFERENT HECTARE
As if we didn’t know well enough how tiny our vineyard is, the wine this time comes from another family owned estate; of 250 hectares! Perez Cruz Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is an absolute belter.
This unique eco-friendly winery is found in the Maipo Andes in Chile and, as much as we are seen as rosé specialists, so they are considered red experts. This region, at around 500m above sea level, is considered to be one of the most sought after areas to grow Cabernet Sauvignon. As ours are, their vines are trained on a double guyot system and have a long ripening season eventually being harvested by hand. The big difference is that, in the middle bit, they get plenty of sunshine!
A bit of an ‘under the radar’ wine, this has intense ripe red fruits with sweet vanilla (it spends a year in oak), black pepper, wild herbs and figs. The palate is creamy and concentrated with enough grip for food but the balanced acidity and soft tannins are also perfect for a liquid supper watching a movie in front of the fire. Perfect wine for roast dinner. It’s vegan friendly too….

An off-dry English sparkling wine with refined fruit character. It has a pale golden hue with a steady stream of tiny bubbles.
Floral aromas of almond blossom and honeysuckle dance on the nose, with fragrant stone fruits including yellow nectarine and quince. It has the scent of summer meadows alongside attractive aromas of freshly baked shortbread and sweet brioche. The palate is off-dry with honeyed fruit, sweet apple compote and stewed medlar. It has a wonderful creamy mousse and a silky texture as smooth as panna cotta.
There are hints of frangipane and bakewell tart with a tasty layer of sweet almond paste running through it. It has balancing acidity to counteract the sweetness so the result is exquisitely off-dry with a lingering finish.
Perfect for celebrations such as christenings or a baby shower, or simply enjoy it with afternoon tea. Serve well-chilled in a flute alongside sweet canapés such as mini strawberry short-cake or individual fruit tarts. Also good with creamy fruit desserts such as summer trifle or panna cotta with a red berry coulis. Enjoy it with a classic cream tea with home-baked scones, lashings of clotted cream and luscious strawberry jam.

A very special traditional method English sparkling wine made from our own Pinot Noir grapes skilfully combined with a carefully selected local Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir mix.
2018 was an exceptional growing year in the UK with a super hot summer which delivered grapes bursting with juicy ripeness.
Our Reserve Cuvée has fresh and intense citrus aromas, supported by notes of ripe fruit and the slightest hint of oak. A touch of biscuity honey with a creamy finish completes the tasting journey.
Aged on the lees for at least 24 months. Excellent with lobster lasagne, seafood or enjoyed on its own.
