The 2025 Red Hut Pinot Gris from Marlborough's Awatere valley is a vibrant and finely detailed expression of the variety. Aromas of freshly cut pear, lemon zest and white blossom lead into a palate that is both bright and textural. Notes of nashi pear, green apple and a hint of spice are supported by a subtle mineral edge. This Pinot gris finished long and clean, with a gentle savoury note that adds depth and complexity. Ashdown Boundary Block is made from 100% Merlot grapes. Aged in old oak barrels for 19 months. Light to medium bodied with a ruby to garnet hue. On the nose aromas of plum, blackcurrant, blackberry, almond, rhubarb, Cherry Bakewell and vanilla leading to flavors of cooked cherries, black currant jam, vanilla, cranberries and blackberries.
It is smooth with a good length. Its tannin structure is well balanced and delicate, while still delivering an intense and complex taste. Enjoy this wine with roast beef, mushroom risotto, or game dishes. Well-balanced acidity and medium body create a crisp, lively texture that carries to a refreshing finish.
