The Verhaeghe family have been making wine in the Lot since the 1950s. Today it is Pascal and Jean-Marc in charge of the domaine, which is certified organic. They own three parcels of vineyards, the largest of which is 12.5 acres with stony calcareous clay which is called `Tran`, which plays an important role retaining heat and moisture. Drawing on his winemaking experience from California to Burgundy.

Settimo Pizzolato is the fifth generation of grower at the estate, a man full of charisma and innovative wisdom. Freya is a fun alternative to traditional sparkling wines. The joyous, but not sickly amount of residual sugar balances nicely against the naturally high acidity of Kerner. Interestingly, the residual sugar in this vintage is the result of the secondary fermentation (consistently) not finishing. The result is a fantastic, but casual sparkling wine that makes a great gift, or a delicious pairing with fruity desserts.

A Chardonnay that just keeps getting better and better! Fresh and bright on the nose and mouth, with lemon, citrus zest and a lovely savoury salinity. This Chardonnay is a real winner to enjoy on it’s own or alongside fish and chicken dishes served with creamy lemon and dill sauces. Is your mouth watering yet?
The fruit was picked mid October, de-stemmed and pressed with partial wild yeast fermentation with over 70% in oak barrels, 5.4% of it new, and the rest of the ferment in stainless steel.
The 2022 was one of those glorious wine grape growing years. Spring started out mild and frost free. Summer brought so much sun along with the heat and drought, the clay soils loved it! Autumn was kind enough to offer a bountiful harvest and perfect ripeness for our still wines.

Furleigh Estate Eustacia Chardonnay (6 Bottles) Bridport, Dorset, England

Wonderfully refreshing dry white with plenty of zest and backbone. It has a pale lemon hue with elegant legs. Delightful floral aromas of passionflower and lily marry honeydew melon and citrus lemon plus a touch of mandarin on the nose. The palate is dry with excellent acidity and a crisp mouthfeel which revives with every drop. Flavours of Sicilian lemon and yellow grapefruit mingle with braeburn and coxes apple and a hint of orange peel. It has a delicate saline character and great depth of flavour plus a lovely long finish.
Serve chilled with a seafood platter or shellfish. Also good with soused mackerel or roll-mops and especially with escabeche. Excellent with sushi but go easy on the wasabi. Try it with lemon sole and beurre blanc sauce garnished with samphire.
