Establishing itself as one of the UK 'signature varietals', Madeleine is a very distinctive early ripening grape with a thin skin and a very floral, delicate character. It grows with great exuberance here and often overcrops.
A light and delicate bouquet with a refreshing burst of zingy lemon on the palate followed by distinctive elderflower. A dry and refreshing still white, offering depth and a smooth minerality but balanced with crisp acidity on the palate.

An off-dry English sparkling wine with refined fruit character. It has a pale golden hue with a steady stream of tiny bubbles.
Floral aromas of almond blossom and honeysuckle dance on the nose, with fragrant stone fruits including yellow nectarine and quince. It has the scent of summer meadows alongside attractive aromas of freshly baked shortbread and sweet brioche. The palate is off-dry with honeyed fruit, sweet apple compote and stewed medlar. It has a wonderful creamy mousse and a silky texture as smooth as panna cotta.
There are hints of frangipane and bakewell tart with a tasty layer of sweet almond paste running through it. It has balancing acidity to counteract the sweetness so the result is exquisitely off-dry with a lingering finish.
Perfect for celebrations such as christenings or a baby shower, or simply enjoy it with afternoon tea. Serve well-chilled in a flute alongside sweet canapés such as mini strawberry short-cake or individual fruit tarts. Our Ortega is a delicate, precisely made wine, which has been produced using a combination of natural and selected yeasts. This year’s vintage showcases everything we love about Ortega as a variety - a nose of tropical fruit and on the palate a herbal, saline finish.
Winemaker Adrian Pike explains "We were really proud of what we released last year, but quite simply, the 2023 vintage gave us riper fruit and that’s given all our releases a little more brightness and concentration of flavours, still with all the classic Westwell characteristics."
Westwell Ortega 2023 pairs perfectly with poultry, shellfish, soft cheeses and is also great on its own.
