Italy
Italy’s wine identity is best told by its regions and native grapes. In the north‑west, Piedmont rules with Nebbiolo (Barolo, Barbaresco), Barbera and Dolcetto, and crisp whites like Cortese in Gavi.
In the north‑east, Veneto brings Prosecco (Glera), Soave (Garganega) and Valpolicella (Corvina‑based blends, Ripasso, Amarone).
Trentino‑Alto Adige / Alto Adige contributes alpine whites like Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon, and also Lagrein reds.
In central Italy, Tuscany is Sangiovese’s stronghold—Chianti, Brunello, Vino Nobile—and blends with international grapes in “Super Tuscans.” Umbria, Marche and Lazio lean into whites (Verdicchio, Trebbiano, Grechetto) and lighter reds (Montepulciano, Sangiovese).
In Emilia‑Romagna, one finds Lambrusco (sparkling reds), Sangiovese and regional whites like Albana.
Heading south, Campania gives us Fiano, Greco, Aglianico; Puglia is strong with Primitivo, Negroamaro; and Sicily offers Nero d’Avola, Frappato, and whites like Grillo.

Azienda Vitivinicola Luigi Tacchino Gavi di Gavi 2024 (6 Bottles) Piedmont, Italy
UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED
For more than three generations the Tacchino family has produced superb fresh and vibrant wines in Castelletto d`Orba in Monferrato, Piedmont. This is perfect wine country as the hills provide a natural amphitheatre which protects the vineyards from the northerly winds. Today, brother and sister duo Alessio and Romina run the Tacchino estate, with Bob the German Shephard close at their heels. While Alessio remains close to his vines, it is Romina who welcomes visitors and visits markets.
This wine presents a medium-intensity straw-yellow colour with good luminosity. On the nose, it opens with delicate floral aromas, particularly acacia and linden blossom, followed by subtle fruit notes, led by light peach, and finishing with hints of Mediterranean herbs. The palate mirrors the bouquet with clarity, offering a flavourful and refreshingly bright profile that leaves the mouth feeling exceptionally clean. A gentle almond note lingers as an aromatic aftertaste, rounding out a balanced, smooth, and pleasantly invigorating sip.

Feudi del Pisciotto Grillo 2024 (6 Bottles) Sicily, Italy
UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED
Feudi del Pisciotto is a property located in a rural area of south-eastern Sicily, on the edge of the Sughereta di Niscemi Nature Reserve. The name refers to a small river that flows through the property. The winery and cellars are housed in a historic ‘palmento’ dating to the 18th century. The property and vineyards were all but abandoned before they were bought by famous Italian journalist Paolo Panerai in 2005. The viticultural ideology of Feudi del Pisciotto is based on the philosophy of Giacomo Tachis, who famously proclaimed that “the terroir of Sicily allows any type of vine to be grown successfully, with the right knowledge”.
This Grillo is pale straw yellow with greenish highlights, this wine offers aromas of melon, white pear, apricot and a hint of tropical fruits. Very juicy and approachable, with a round mid-palate and a savoury finish.
