A new experimental wine. The grapes were sourced from nearby Essex. They are destemmed and fermented using indigenous yeast and then pressed into an old burgundy barrels. The wine was aged for a total of 7 months with frequent lees stirring.This unusual and fun wine is expressive and textured, showcasing aromas of tropical and stone fruit, hints of dried citrus fruits and white pepper.

The 2025 Red Hut Pinot Gris from Marlborough's Awatere valley is a vibrant and finely detailed expression of the variety. Aromas of freshly cut pear, lemon zest and white blossom lead into a palate that is both bright and textural. Notes of nashi pear, green apple and a hint of spice are supported by a subtle mineral edge. This Pinot gris finished long and clean, with a gentle savoury note that adds depth and complexity. Anthonij Rupert Wyne was founded on the farm, L’Ormarins in Franschhoek. Originally owned by the late Anthonij Rupert, who passed away in 2001, the farm was eventually taken over by his brother Johann Rupert in 2003 and the brand named after him. It was Johann Rupert who constructed a state-of-theart winemaking facility, catapulting the farm into a prestigious wine estate. The focus is on terroir specific wines and therefore it would seem obvious that the brand is made up of an impressive portfolio of farms representing the best in grape producing locations. The portfolio is made up of L’Ormarins from Franschhoek, Rooderust from Darling, Riebeeksrivier from the Swartland and Altima from isolated Elandskloof. Each site offers optimum varietal specific growing conditions, allowing Anthonij Rupert Wyne to adhere to the requirements of their different brands.
The nose reveals apricot and stone fruit aromas, with subtle hints of lemon and gravel. On the palate, it’s bright and vibrant, featuring a crisp, zesty acidity that’s perfectly balanced by ripe fruit flavours of apricot, melon, and quince. A lively touch of lemon zest adds a refreshing succulence. Light and refreshing, it’s irresistibly appealing, making you want to come back for more. An ideal choice for summer.

Style: Grown in polytunnels, so more full bodied than a typical English red.
Food Pairing: Perfect with a Sunday Roast or other hearty meals.
Deep ruby in colour, with aromas of pepper, dark berries and spice. The palate is medium bodied with gentle tannins and a slight earthiness, flavours of stewed dark fruits and spices. The perfect wine for more full flavoured meat and mushroom based dishes.
Winemakers Notes: A cheats wine in many ways! In our climate we can not ripen either Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon as they simply ripen too late, so the grapes for this are grown under cover. The blend is 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet, the grapes are fermented with daily pump overs to extract more colour, depth and body. Towards the end of the fermentation the grapes are pressed and transferred to a mixture of French oak barrels where they remain for over a year. The wine is then bottled unfined and unfiltered.

This Library Release wine has been gently maturing in our cellars. A Pinot Noir-dominated blend from a cool vintage, this wine is elegant and nuanced with layers of complex flavours. The overall impression is bright and vibrant. Notes of red currant, red fruits and orange zest sitting alongside cloves, cherry bark and a delicious succulent apricot note. The finish is complex and long.
Every year, we release a small number of late-disgorged wines. These are particularly luxurious and fine thanks to a special winemaking technique.

Every year to pay homage to this special lad we name a wine after him (which of course he chooses!!) and this year is his delicious "Chilli Cat Cuvee", cheers "Chilli".
