Melbury Vale Dusk (6 Bottles) Shaftesbury, Dorset, England

This aromatised wine is our Dorset answer to “blush” wine or dessert in a glass! The rosé base wine is Dorset grown Regent grapes. We bump up the ABV of these wines by fortifying with a small amount of our wine based distilled spirit. We then blend with all natural extracts and pure sugar cane. Because of the slight fortification of this wine, it has a longer shelf life once opened. We recommend a bottle of our aromatised wine can stay open in the fridge for up to 2 weeks – but we don’t expect it to last that long! This amazingly flavorful, slightly sweetened wine is best served chilled, but can be enjoyed just under room temp as well. You can serve it in a pitcher with ice and garnish with fruit, or pour into a glass over ice and top with something fizzy. It’s so fruity, yet complex, it will pair with a surprising amount of savory and spicy foods!

This Chardonnay has aromas of ripe melon, bergamot and apricot, a rich palate of butter and citrus marmalade, and a savoury toast-crunch finish. Balanced, complex and delicious.
In the Vineyard
Vines in Block 7 in the centre of the vineyard were chosen for our first Chardonnay. The vines are closely planted (5,000 vines per hectare) in soil with a distinctly sandy and rocky profile. This regulates canopy growth, lessening growth of both shoots and fruit. Lighter crops, from well ventilated, less vigorous canopies, enabled us to ripen the grapes to the desired quality level with minimal canopy intervention.
What's in the name?
'Two Beat Trot' is a dressage term for balance, making it the perfect name for our Chardonnay. Just like the elegant movement, this wine is beautifully balanced and complex.
Food Pairing
This will pair well with autumn vegetable dishes like pumpkin ravioli, roast chicken, and cheddar cheese.

The Gratiot-Pillière family’s focus has always been on quality, authenticity and value above all else. Winemakers since 1657, today the winery is in the hands of 11th generation brothers Olivier and Sébastien. The family vineyards cover 18 hectares of land, spread throughout the towns of Charly-Sur-Marne, Saulchery, Bonneil and Azy-Sur-Marne. Subtle blends of Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from across varied terroirs give a style that is fresh, balanced and replete with delicate fruit.
A blond gold yellow tint surrounds the fine bubbles which rise slowly. The nose expresses itself with opulence, with mixed notes of ripe yellow fruits (mirabelle plum, fresh quince) and fruit in syrup. The palate is almost suave, with a nice persistence, supported by a light freshness that accompanies a warm finish.

Settimo Pizzolato is the fifth generation of grower at the estate, a man full of charisma and innovative wisdom. A single variety, single vineyard wine that is produced in very limited quantities. On site at Melbury Vale Vineyard we have 500 established Seyval Blanc vines. Seyval blanc as a grape is ideal for the Dorset climate in that it is low maintenance and ripens beautifully. Come harvest, the bunches of grapes are large and have sugar levels perfectly aligned for producing traditional method sparkling wine. This wine is a pale golden color with fine bubbles typical of a high quality English sparkling wine. On the nose there are aromas of fresh citrus and ripe pear, and on the palate there are bright notes of green apple, elderflower, and meyer lemon.
Food Pairings: crispy salted chips, rich brunch dishes, and fruit based desserts
