Tamar Valley Double White – Still White Wine 2023 (6 Bottles) Bere Alston, Devon, England

Made from a blend of Madeleine Angevine and Bacchus grapes, grown in the Tamar Valley. The wine has hints of blossom, sherbet and elderflower, a floral and citrus finish with baked apple on the nose. This wine won a BRONZE at the Wine GB West awards in December 2024.
The Tamar Valley was famous for its market gardens and early flowering blooms, especially daffodils. The ‘double white’ was popular for its intense perfume and its creamy white petals.

The Cape Mentelle journey is a true labour of love, born from humble beginnings in 1970 with just sixteen hectares of vines. Fast forward to today, and this iconic winery has carefully crafted each blend to showcase the unique characteristics of its terroir, resulting in wines that are both complex and approachable.
This wine is a vibrant and seductive blend of flavours, with a nose that's bursting with juicy yellow peaches, sweet melon, and citrus zest, all entwined with delicate hints of frangipani and honeysuckle. On the palate, the wine is rich and indulgent, with flavours of rock melon, pistachio, and lemon curd that are perfectly balanced by a zesty acidity. This is quite possibly the best sparkling wine that we’ve made so far. The 2015 combines the richness of our 2013 and the crisp fresh side of 2014 a balance that gives the best of both worlds. The wine is pretty much equal quantities of Chardonnay , Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier with 15% Reserve Wine from previous vintages going right back to 2010 .
It was disgorged in late 2019 after four years on the lees. It still has plenty of room for development and will continue to improve for five or more years.
