An exquisitely elegant sparkling rosé wine showing great finesse.
It has a delicate salmon-pink hue with tiny bubbles. Enticing aromas of wild strawberries and white peach mingle with a hint of rosehip. There are subtle autolytic notes of vanilla-scented brioche and scones with cream.
The mousse is soft and creamy with beautifully integrated bubbles. On the palate, fresh summer berries including cranberry and redcurrant meet stone fruits, nectarine and wild apricot. It has layers of complexity with citrus acidity and delicate minerality. The mouthfeel is excellent and it shows exceptional balance, lingering well after the last drop.
Excellent served well-chilled with seafood such as tuna carpaccio, hand-dived local Lyme Bay scallops or pan-fried garlic prawns. Also good with Thai-marinated fish including sea bass, red mullet or gurnard cooked en papillote with lemongrass and ginger

It’s super pale in colour, dry and Provencal is style. Linear it yields stone fruit, redcurrant, savoury and floral tones with a refreshing finish.

An opulent, fruit driven nose full of ripe pear, stone fruit and lemon peel, alongside sweet spice, vanilla and a delicate smoky note. On the palate, there’s lots of tropical fruits, fresh citrus, white peach and a salty mineral note. Like Deus Ex Machina – an act of divine intervention in Greek tragedy that resolves the seemingly impossible on stage – Rosé Ex Machina was the result of our own much needed bolt from the blue in 2016: an initially difficult vintage saved by a glut of grapes from Jenkyn Place vineyard that were, quite literally, perfect.
Fortune struck again in 2018 – a year that wasn't just full of sunshine, but was relentlessly warm and bright from start to finish, without a puff of wind, and virtually no rain. That remarkable summer is evident at its core.
With four and a half years on lees, and another twelve months in bottle, the 2018 Rosé Ex Machina is serene and expansive. Blood orange one minute and wild raspberries the next; juicy and creamy, but with razor-sharp focus – it's tasting better than ever.
