A lovely nose of soft apple blossom and gentle apricot lead to a palate that is just dry but deliciously fresh and easy to get along with. The apricot follows on from the nose and is combined with rounded citrus fruits – mainly subtle orange and lemon. Our Ortega is a delicate, precisely made wine, which has been produced using a combination of natural and selected yeasts. This year’s vintage showcases everything we love about Ortega as a variety - a nose of tropical fruit and on the palate a herbal, saline finish.
Winemaker Adrian Pike explains "We were really proud of what we released last year, but quite simply, the 2023 vintage gave us riper fruit and that’s given all our releases a little more brightness and concentration of flavours, still with all the classic Westwell characteristics."
Westwell Ortega 2023 pairs perfectly with poultry, shellfish, soft cheeses and is also great on its own.

Winemaker's Notes: Not your typical white wine, a wine for the lovers of 'orange wines'. Small parcels of very ripe and rare (in England) Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat grapes were fermented on skins in the same way as you would a red wine for 7 days before being pressed. Only 500 bottles produced.
