On the palate, a vibrant, fruit-driven profile emerges, led by citrus notes of lemon and lime, followed by layers of green apple and apricot. Albarino was planted by the Nicholas family here in Kent after many holidays in Galicia in Spain. In warm years such as 2022 is ripens with a high natural acidity and beautifully lean style which cannot be made anywhere else. Chapel Down were the first winemaker to produce an English Albariño.

Court Garden Ditchling Sparkling Quartet (6 Bottles) Ditchling, East Sussex, England

This blend replaces our highly successful Ditchling Reserve. Using Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir Précoce, the wine has been longer in reserve and a large proportion has been barrel aged before bottling. Long aging on the lees has ensured a rich, but still fruity balance. Also awarded a gold medal at the 2021 International Wines & Spirits Competition; the judges commented “Stunning nose of honeycomb, bruised apple and brioche – like a fine dessert with apple four ways. It has lovely poise, classy and complex all held in perfect poise by the bright quintessentially English acidity”.

Winding Wood Brut Rosé 2020 (6 Bottles) Hungerford, Berkshire, England

This is our second release of sparkling rosé. Pressed, fermented, and bottled at Offbeat Wines by Daniel Ham, our winemaker. The grapes were hand-harvested and a whole bunch pressed. The wine underwent secondary fermentation in the bottle and then spent 18 months on its yeast lees and a further 6 months ‘on cork’. Released June 2023. This is a 100% pinot-based rosé — a departure from our first which contained a blend of chardonnay and pinot.

With the palest of pink hues our Sussex Rosé is elegant, refreshing and very moreish. Made predominantly from Pinot Noir, our Provençal-style rosé delivers a fresh crisp minerally palate with delicate aromas of red summer fruits.
As ever, this wine is perfect for sipping or food matching. We recommend to drink chilled at around 6 – 8°C, preferably in the sunshine with friends!
