Kerner (a relative of Riesling) is the pride and joy of Astley Vineyard. Produced from vines planted in 1971, Old Vine Kerner is our flagship wine intended for sophisticated dinners, or sharing with appreciative friends.
2022 produced some of the ripest Kerner we have ever experienced - harvested at over 12.5% abv. The result is an astoundingly aromatic and intense wine.

2022 was very kind to our Kerner. Harvested at record sugar levels, this rich & aromatic expression of Kerner is both joyous and fascinatingly complex. The 7 month fermentation, and an extra month on lees created a luxuriously textured wine that somehow managed to not overpower the primary fruit. Enjoy on its own, or alongside rich north European cuisine (roast pork, mushrooms).

This classic, crisp and elegant Cotswold rosé is pale pink in appearance, with strawberry, delicate rose and peach on the nose. The palate is dry, fresh and vibrant, bursting with delicious summer fruits, with a wonderfully long and satisfying finish. A more full-bodied style with lemon rind, elderflower, toasted pine and yoghurt aromas. The palate is rounded and full with soft oak tannin, more rich yellow fruits and a touch of oak spice. 100% whole-bunch-pressed Madeleine Angevine that was spontaneously fermented in stainless steel and then matured in both steel and old French oak for 9 months before being bottled with no filtration.
This wine is part of our new Don't Feed The Ponies range of more experimental wines, a reference to a campaign on Dartmoor National Park to discourage visitors from feeding the wild horses that roam there. The source of the River Dart begins way up in the heart of the moors, and it's the river that influences how our grapes grow. For every bottle purchased from this range, we'll donate 25p to the Dartmoor Preservation Association to preserve the natural habitat.

The wine presents a light peach skin, cherry hue with fragrant aromas of cherry, rasberry, ripe strawberries, peach skin and nectarine it follows through with a zingy mouthfeel of cranberry, lemon grapefruit and ripe breadfruit. It is well balanced with the intensity of fruit and creamy texture.
100% Pinot Noir, the grapes from our vineyard were handpicked, and pressed in October this is a blend of pressed whole bunch and saignée from our 2022 red Pinot Noir. After low temperature fermentation to accentuate the thiol aromas the wine was left in tank over winter but not allowed to go to malolactic fermentation, the juice was very clear and required minimal fining and developed a rich aroma of red fruits with a soft creamy palate with crisp acidity.
