Anthonij Rupert Wyne was founded on the farm, L’Ormarins in Franschhoek. Originally owned by the late Anthonij Rupert, who passed away in 2001, the farm was eventually taken over by his brother Johann Rupert in 2003 and the brand named after him. It was Johann Rupert who constructed a state-of-theart winemaking facility, catapulting the farm into a prestigious wine estate. The focus is on terroir specific wines and therefore it would seem obvious that the brand is made up of an impressive portfolio of farms representing the best in grape producing locations. The portfolio is made up of L’Ormarins from Franschhoek, Rooderust from Darling, Riebeeksrivier from the Swartland and Altima from isolated Elandskloof. Each site offers optimum varietal specific growing conditions, allowing Anthonij Rupert Wyne to adhere to the requirements of their different brands.
This wine offers a complex bouquet of fruitcake, cedar, cocoa, and a delicate hint of dried lavender. On the palate, it is broad, fleshy, and succulent, delivering the same depth of flavour promised by the nose. The spice-infused cedar combines beautifully with rich dark fruitcake notes. The texture is wonderfully soft, rounded, and silky, showcasing cohesion and refinement. It possesses impressive density and concentration without feeling overpowering, and the oak influence from maturation is seamlessly integrated.

2020 was a year like no other, whilst everyone was locked down at home, we were incredibly lucky to be able to get out into the vineyard and do what we do. With a local army of freshly recruited (furloughed) vineyard workers, we negotiated our way through a season that produced a small, very ripe and incredibly concentrated crop of fruit, most notably expressed in this opulent and fruit forward edition of our much loved Rosé. Even though the blend and process is exactly the same as previous wines, there is something different about this one, a purity, softness and elegance that makes the wine simply glide across the palate. We can’t wait to see how it develops over the years, but this really will be a hard one to keep.

With passion and purpose Red Hut was launched and embodies the spirit of New Zealand, they are inspired by the iconic red huts that shelter adventurers. This Central Otago Pinot Noir has aromas of cherry, redcurrant and thyme are underpinned by hints of rose petal and subtle spice. Fine tannins frame the vibrant red fruit, savoury undertones and a touch of earthiness from the whole bunch. Palacios Remondo is a family-owned winery based in Alfaro, in Rioja Oriental, the warmest and most easterly part of the Rioja appellation. The soils here are silty and alluvial and the semi-arid Mediterranean climate is well-suited to growing Garnacha, a variety that is finally coming back into the foreground in this region, after decades of being supplanted by the more popular Tempranillo.
This wine is the epitome of Garnacha of the region, plump and generous, with layers of red fruit, subtle spicing and lively freshness. A very long, complete finish, with a savoury sign off to balance.
