Our signature white wine at Burn Valley continues to shine, barrel fermented and aged in Hungarian oak for eight months with a mixture of new and aged oak, partial malolactic fermentation is done to produce a rich buttery finish. This is a first release of our 100% organic Chardonnay sparkling wine, made in a similar style to our Limney Estate, without yeast added (primary fermentation), unfiltered and with minimal added sulphur. It was fermented in stainless steel. The wine has a dry balance and aromas of white fruit (peach, baked apple) with a clean finish.

2020 was a year like no other, whilst everyone was locked down at home, we were incredibly lucky to be able to get out into the vineyard and do what we do. With a local army of freshly recruited (furloughed) vineyard workers, we negotiated our way through a season that produced a small, very ripe and incredibly concentrated crop of fruit, most notably expressed in this opulent and fruit forward edition of our much loved Rosé. Even though the blend and process is exactly the same as previous wines, there is something different about this one, a purity, softness and elegance that makes the wine simply glide across the palate. We can’t wait to see how it develops over the years, but this really will be a hard one to keep.

The Cape Mentelle journey is a true labour of love, born from humble beginnings in 1970 with just sixteen hectares of vines. Fast forward to today, and this iconic winery has carefully crafted each blend to showcase the unique characteristics of its terroir, resulting in wines that are both complex and approachable.
This stunning blend is a masterclass in harmony, with Cabernet Sauvignon taking centre stage and showcasing its signature dark fruits, bright cassis, and subtle hints of dried herbs.

Greyfriars Vineyard Old Vine Blanc de Blancs 2016 (6 Bottles) Puttenham, Surrey, England

Displaying a delicate, pale lemon hue, this complex sparkling wine has honeyed beeswax and subtle baked apple aromas. The palate is a harmonious blend of richer and fresh fruit, with creamy apple and pear flavours and a delicate hint of vanilla on the finish from the well integrated oak ageing.
While this would serve as a wonderful aperitif, it would go down equally well with creamy, crème fraîche chicken pasta with pancetta; or with a Normandy style Moules with Cider, or lighter roast dishes such as pork tenderloin with fennel.
Review by Matthew Jukes in Vineyard Magazine: (November 2024) "[Goldenford] is fermented and aged in neutral oak, which grants this wine permission to hold itself with exquisite deportment. There are so few 'still' Chardonnays in the UK for which I use the term 'sophisticated'. I have no doubt they will come, but Goldenford is already here, and it is an absolute gem. Silky, linear, resonant and singular, this thrilling wine blows my mind at only £18! I have said it before, and it bears repeating- the wines from Greyfriars are the finest value in our land, and this beautiful wine is genuinely world-class from a taste perspective and also from a pounds, shillings and pence reckoning. if only I still owned my wine bar- would buy a pallet at the drop of a hat!"

This Chardonnay is an expression of site and season. The natural fermentation and extended lees contact add depth and complexity, while bright acidity provides length and freshness on the finish. Elegant, structured and cellar-worthy.
