Palacios Remondo La Vendimia Garnacha Tempranillo 2022 (6 Bottles) Rioja, Spain

Palacios Remondo is a family-owned winery based in Alfaro, in Rioja Oriental, the warmest and most easterly part of the Rioja appellation. The soils here are silty and alluvial and the semi-arid Mediterranean climate is well-suited to growing Garnacha, a variety that is finally coming back into the foreground in this region, after decades of being supplanted by the more popular Tempranillo.
This wine has great phenolic maturity and a salty herb-sour edge to intense almost tarry dark Garnacha. The palate has a fantastic acid-tannin reach which drags clay spice and floral red berry along and along and along ... It’s long, complex, fresh, vital and complete.

This blend replaces our highly successful Ditchling Reserve. Using Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir Précoce, the wine has been longer in reserve and a large proportion has been barrel aged before bottling. Long aging on the lees has ensured a rich, but still fruity balance. Telmo Rodriguez is one of the most well-known personalities in Spanish winemaking. Though his family home is in Rioja Alavesa, Telmo’s influence can be felt in many regions of Spain. For more than 30 years, Telmo and his business partner, Pablo Eguzkiza, have been rediscovering historic vineyards and investing in infrastructure. Telmo and Pablo were one of the first modern-day winemakers to arrive in Valdeorras and helped bring attention to the incredible terraced vineyards of Ladeiras do Xil. This part of Galicia is the domain of Godello and Mencia, both varieties are often planted in tiny vineyard plots on granitic soils.
A clean, vibrant nose reveals lively aromas of green apple and pear, accented by subtle hints of fresh herbs. The palate is bright and balanced, with crisp acidity that brings harmony and lift. A gentle herbaceous note lingers on the finish, showcasing both depth and excellent varietal character.

Wonderfully refreshing dry white with plenty of zest and backbone. It has a pale lemon hue with elegant legs. Delightful floral aromas of passionflower and lily marry honeydew melon and citrus lemon plus a touch of mandarin on the nose. The palate is dry with excellent acidity and a crisp mouthfeel which revives with every drop. Flavours of Sicilian lemon and yellow grapefruit mingle with braeburn and coxes apple and a hint of orange peel. It has a delicate saline character and great depth of flavour plus a lovely long finish.
