About Alder Vineyard
Born from a challenge to redefine our family’s use of land, Alder Vineyard sprouted from a shared passion for wine and the great outdoors. Our journey began over 10 years ago, planting 5,000 vines on the edge of Dartmoor, Devon. Little did we know this untapped corner of England would become a haven for exceptional English wine.
Our family’s history at Alder Farm dates back generations. Once a thriving farm, the 1960s saw our grandparents pioneer Alder Sportswear, converting old sheds into a surf brand hub. Embracing diversification, we launched Alder Vineyard, nurturing our love for the outdoors and good wine.
2014’s idyllic harvest sparked a new path. We partnered with Polgoon Vineyard to craft our first bottles and began vineyard tours. Enthusiastic responses fueled our growth, expanded vineyards, increased wine production and enhanced visitor experiences.
I (Tom) pursued winemaking studies to establish our on-site winery. In 2020, we unveiled our state-of-the-art winery, kitchen, and shop, solidifying our commitment to sharing English wine’s beauty beyond the bottle.
Experience the essence of Devon’s wine country with us.

Oatley Fraîcheur Barrel Matured 2023 (6 Bottles) Bridgwater, Somerset, England

Floral aromas with ripe peach, mango and a touch of oak on the palate.
This wine is our Jane's that has been matured for 11 months in Fraîcheur barrels, which are a special mix of oak and acacia wood. It gains complexity and is all together a more serious wine.
A touch of tannin on the finish makes this a good food wine, especially with white meats and goats cheeses.
The 2023 vintage starts with touch of vanilla, then some lemony acacia on the mid palate and a touch of tannin to finish.

Sandridge Barton Don’t Feed the Ponies Figgie Daniel 2022 (6 Bottles) Stoke Gabriel, Devon, England
UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED
An energetic wine with a lively spritz. This wine is unfiltered and unfined and contains the lees in the bottle. Col Fondo means 'with the bottom' in Italian, referring to the leftover lees sediment. This is the method in which Prosecco was produced before being overly commercialised but is now regaining popularity.
This wine is light and spritzy with green apple, lemon rind, elderflower and yeasty characters. We recommend a gentle shake before serving to distribute the sediment.
This wine is part of our new Don't Feed The Ponies range of more experimental wines, a reference to a campaign on Dartmoor National Park to discourage visitors from feeding the wild horses that roam there. The source of the River Dart begins way up in the heart of the moors, and it's the river that influences how our grapes grow. For every bottle purchased from this range, we'll donate 25p to the Dartmoor Preservation Association to preserve the natural habitat.
Sandridge Barton Don’t Feed the Ponies Oddy 2020 (6 Bottles) Stoke Gabriel, Devon, England

Madeleine Angevine spontaneously fermented on skins for three weeks with indigenous vineyard yeasts for character, no filtration and matured under cork for two years. A unique expression of our flagship variety, with aromas of candied dried orange peel, dried flowers and honeysuckle. The palate is dry with grippy tannins and more orange peel flavours. This wine pairs perfectly with charcuterie, olives and mature cheeses. Do not chill too much and don't worry about the sediment, its natural and brings character to the wine.
