About Breaky Bottom
I’m fortunate to have grown up surrounded by good wine and food, thanks to my French/Italian mother and French grandfather, Alex Mercier, a renowned restaurateur. In 1974, I planted Breaky Bottom vineyard in a secluded fold of the Sussex Downs, recognizing the potential for cool-climate wines. With just six acres of vines, I’ve built a reputation for producing top-quality, limited-edition wines. My approach is rooted in tradition, with a focus on sustainability and conservation. I’ve dedicated each cuvée to friends and family, celebrating their contributions to my life.
Natural England supports Breaky Bottom through the Higher Level Stewardship Scheme ‘to conserve wildlife, maintain and enhance landscape quality and character and protect the natural environment.’ Our holding is made up of a six acre vineyard surrounded by steep hillsides of species rich chalk Downland grazed by sheep. The traditional flint barn and farmhouse, originally built in 1827, form the boundaries of what was once a winter cattle yard.Sheep have been part of the life at Breaky Bottom for hundreds of years. The original people who lived on the farm were shepherds.

Albourne Estate Multi-Vintage Sparkling (6 Bottles) Albourne, West Sussex, England
UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED
As its name suggests this wine is made of selected base wines from multiple vintages to produce an approachable and immediately enjoyable style. Others call this style ‘non-vintage’ – we just prefer the name ‘multi-vintage’! The blend of this wine will vary slightly each year in order to maintain a consistent style, but it will typically be a combination of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir or Pinot Meunier and will undergo 3 years on-lees ageing.
Generous and soft on the palate, this wine is open and expressive, exhibiting delightful panettone-like aromas of sweet baked bread, dried apricots, nuts and candied citrus peels.
Albourne Estate Red Pinot Noir 2019 (6 Bottles) Albourne, West Sussex, England
UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED
This is our second vintage of Red Pinot Noir and displays a deeper, richer ruby colour and a more complex nose than our 2018 version. This is partly due to the vintage and partly due to increased use of the ‘saignee’ method during winemaking. The nose offers aromas of rich dark berries including black cherries backed by notes of cigarbox, black olives and dark chocolate. On the palate it delivers excellent body for a cool climate Pinot Noir with mature soft tannins, a balanced mouthfeel and a harmonious lingering finish. All of this wine has spent 12 months in a mix of new and old French oak barrels before being bottled by hand, unfined and unfiltered, under cork to allow gentle ageing.
Highly enjoyable with charcuteries cheese and nuts as an aperitif and great with a casserole or barbecued meats and vegetables.
Amber Valley Amara Pinot Noir Précoce 2023 (6 Bottles) Wessington, Derbyshire, England
UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED
Amber Valley Pinot Noir Précoce 2023 is an exceptional expression of Midlands-grown Pinot Noir Précoce, crafted as a collaborative masterpiece between Amber Valley Wines and talented winemaker Jack Abbotts at Three Choirs Vineyard.
It displays a vibrant ruby hue with garnet reflections. The nose is elegant and aromatic, showcasing morello cherries, ripe red fruits, and a subtle hint of blackberries. Delicate spiced notes of allspice and vanilla emerge, layered with earthy undertones that hint at its barrel maturation.
On the palate, the wine is beautifully balanced, with a soft, velvety texture and graceful tannins. The red fruit core is complemented by gentle spice and a whisper of oak-driven vanilla. The acidity is well-integrated, offering freshness while supporting the wine’s structure.
The malolactic fermentation and oak ageing contribute to a rounded, harmonious body with a touch of complexity. The finish is long and refined, with lingering notes of cherry, spice, and a touch of earthiness that promises graceful ageing potential.
A versatile partner, it pairs perfectly with rosemary roast lamb, game dishes, grilled pork, roast salmon, or earthy mushroom-based cuisine. Its elegance and structure also make it a delightful wine to savor on its own. This is a stunning Midlands Pinot Noir Précoce, showcasing exceptional terroir and meticulous craftsmanship, offering both immediate pleasure and the potential for further development.

Knightor Winery Pinot Noir 2023 (6 Bottles) St Austell Bay, Cornwall, England
Free UK Delivery on Orders Over £60
Character: Light, Fruit-forward
Aromas: Cherry, Wild Strawberry, Spice
Flavours: Red Fruits, Gentle Oak
Style: A light and summery English Red.
Food Pairing: Pair with lamb, game, or enjoy on its own.
A pale red Pinot Noir, the colour is deceptive, not revealing the powerful red fruits hidden within. Full of wild red fruit characters on the nose, the palate is soft, with intense red cherry and gentle spice from the time spent on oak. The perfect red for summer, ideal with a BBQ.
Winemaker's Notes: Just the ripest Pinot Noir was used for this light red. The grapes were crushed and fermented partly in tank and partly in barrel. Throughout the ferment regular pump overs were conducted to extract a little more colour and weight. The oaked proportion of the blend then spent a further 12 months in oak before being bottled.
Wine: Still Red
Grape Variety: Pinot Noir
Body: Light
Sweetness: Dry
Alcohol: 12%
