About Crouch Ridge Estate
Crouch Ridge Estate is a family-run vineyard in Althorne, Essex, overlooking the River Crouch. Ross and Samantha, 5th-generation farmers, planted the vineyard in 2010 with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Gris grapes. Their passion is to produce fine wines that bring people together.
The 15-acre vineyard benefits from a unique microclimate, with warm summers, cold winters, and a moderating influence from the River Crouch. The vines are planted on south-facing slopes with clay soil, ideal for retaining heat.
Crouch Ridge Vineyard produces high-quality Sparkling wines using traditional methods, as well as still wines. Visitors can sample wines and enjoy the views from the Wine Barn, which opened in 2019. The on-site café serves food and drinks, including daily specials prepared by the chef to complement the wines.
The vineyard’s motto is “come for the wine, stay for the view.” With its picturesque setting, fine wines, and welcoming atmosphere, Crouch Ridge Vineyard is a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts and those seeking a relaxing day out in the Essex countryside.
