Dunesforde commissioned this Rosé in honour of Queen Cartimandua, Queen of the North (AD43-69). As leader of the largest and most northerly tribe in England, this powerful lady chose to form an alliance with the Roman invaders rather than be wiped out in futile battle. Made by traditional method using a blend of English Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this vintage demonstrates lively fruits, subtle aromas and a crisp finish. Bold yet elegant, designed for a queen.
About Dunesforde Vineyard
Dunesforde Vineyard’s story began over a decade ago, inspired by the vineyards of Tuscany. Our journey took us from Italy to Yorkshire, where we discovered a site with ideal conditions for growing cool-climate wines. With expert advice, we carefully selected vine varietals and rootstocks to match our soil and climate. Our vineyard lies near the historic Roman town of Aldborough, where Romans once planted vines. We like to think that our vineyard is a continuation of this ancient tradition. Our wines are made from Bacchus, Solaris, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and other varietals, carefully crafted to showcase the unique characteristics of our cool-climate terroir.
We’re proud to offer a range of still and sparkling wines, including our award-winning Queen of the North, named in honour of the ancient Queen Cartimandua. Our tasting rooms, inspired by Roman architecture, offer a unique wine experience with stunning views of the vineyard. Join us for tours, tastings, and events at one of the most northerly vineyards in the UK, discover the magic of Dunesforde Vineyard

Beautifully balanced light Pink traditional method sparkling wine with classic English Pinot character. Lovely floral and delicate strawberry fruit nose and crisp acidity
2017 vintage review in The Times by Jane Macquitty 'Bob and Sam make England’s best pink bubble in a pretty corner of the Cornish countryside. It’s constantly classy, champagne-method gem and bursts with zingy crushed-strawberry fruit. Wonder to the park with this and have a wonderful time. '
Described by Victoria Moore as ‘a triumph, it’s completely delicious – like a wild cherry blossom nose-kiss’. Jane Macquitty, the Times critic writes about the 2016 vintage: ‘Camel Valley’s strawberry scented Pinot noir rose Brut is ‘the best …’.
Praised by Matthew Jukes, English Wine Compendium Mail Weekend magazine "This is a phenomenal wine which is not only one of the finest rosés in the UK but also the world!"
Recommended by Saturday Kitchen’s Olly Smith and a strong pedigree: The 2010 vintage won a Decanter World Wine Award Gold medal, the UKVA Trophy for the best Sparkling Rose in England and was awarded first place in the MWs tasting of 90 English Sparkling wines in 2012. Judges included Jancis Robinson, Stephen Spurrier, Stephen Skelton, Susie Barry, Waitrose and M&S: 'Strawberry and raspberry nose, lovely acid backbone well balanced with the dosage'.

Camel Valley 2009 Pinot Noir Rosé was crowned Sparkling Rosé World Champion ahead of Bollinger Champagne rosé and also won the International Wine Challenge Trophy. Awarded 95/100 points from Chair of Judges Tom Stevenson, editor of Christie's World Encyclopedia of Champagne and sparkling wine. A delightfully delicate nose of wild strawberry, shortbread, citrus zest and faint red berries. Copper pink and pale in appearance, our Sparkling Rosé balances generous texture with a fine mousse. Embracing purity and precision, this debut rosé is a detailed, small-batch, low-intervention wine.
Our winemaking embraces purity, texture and balance. A detailed, small-batch, low-intervention approach allows the fruit to shine through.
"Made at contract winery Itasca by Ben Smith, who was responsible for making my highest scoring English wine of all time (2018 Oxney Chardonnay), I have no problem declaring that this is the UK’s finest Pinot Blanc to date.
The fruit comes from the Missing Gate Vineyard in Essex, where it was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed into third fill Burgundy barrels. I was lucky enough to taste a bottle late last year, and it is as lively and energetic as any white wine you will taste.
A low sulphur regime and minimal fining have left the beautiful fruit to romance your senses. This is a truly brilliant wine with sensational depth, complexity and length. It is not slippery and smooth like an Alsatian PB, but grainy, combative and textural like an epic Chablis. It is nothing short of stunning, and it is certainly the epitome of brave winemaking."
