About Dunesforde Vineyard
Dunesforde Vineyard’s story began over a decade ago, inspired by the vineyards of Tuscany. Our journey took us from Italy to Yorkshire, where we discovered a site with ideal conditions for growing cool-climate wines. With expert advice, we carefully selected vine varietals and rootstocks to match our soil and climate. Our vineyard lies near the historic Roman town of Aldborough, where Romans once planted vines. We like to think that our vineyard is a continuation of this ancient tradition. Our wines are made from Bacchus, Solaris, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and other varietals, carefully crafted to showcase the unique characteristics of our cool-climate terroir.
We’re proud to offer a range of still and sparkling wines, including our award-winning Queen of the North, named in honour of the ancient Queen Cartimandua. Our tasting rooms, inspired by Roman architecture, offer a unique wine experience with stunning views of the vineyard. Join us for tours, tastings, and events at one of the most northerly vineyards in the UK, discover the magic of Dunesforde Vineyard

The Baron Gilvan collaborated with us on label designs for Artefacts #7, #8, & #9. His oil-stick on paper drawings were inspired by each wine’s names, qualities, and colours, the resulting artworks depicting a jazz band of curious characters indulging in a make-believe underground cabaret. The direction of the labels naturally formed itself through initial drawings. The idea of the ‘wild ferment’ informed the animal-human hybrids whilst the variety ‘Cabaret Noir’ inspired the inclusion of instruments and cabaret characters. The paint colours were inspired by the colours of each wine; deep burgundy for ‘Cabaret Noir’, zesty orange for ‘Skinny Gris’, and blanched green for ‘Motley Wild.
