About Dunesforde Vineyard
Dunesforde Vineyard’s story began over a decade ago, inspired by the vineyards of Tuscany. Our journey took us from Italy to Yorkshire, where we discovered a site with ideal conditions for growing cool-climate wines. With expert advice, we carefully selected vine varietals and rootstocks to match our soil and climate. Our vineyard lies near the historic Roman town of Aldborough, where Romans once planted vines. We like to think that our vineyard is a continuation of this ancient tradition. Our wines are made from Bacchus, Solaris, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and other varietals, carefully crafted to showcase the unique characteristics of our cool-climate terroir.
We’re proud to offer a range of still and sparkling wines, including our award-winning Queen of the North, named in honour of the ancient Queen Cartimandua. Our tasting rooms, inspired by Roman architecture, offer a unique wine experience with stunning views of the vineyard. With it’s clear pale yellow colour, this wine looks like summer in a glass. On the nose it has fresh green apple aromas coupled with scents of gooseberry, stone fruits and meadow grass. This is followed up on the palate with refreshing flavours of crisp green apple and ripe nectarine.
The wine has a nice mineral aspect that is pursued by a generous citrus acidity.

On the back of the hot summer of 2022, we left a further 689 vines of Solaris to ripen further. 28 days after harvesting our main Solaris crop, the berries turned a wonderful golden brown and started to dehydrate on the vine.
Packed full of banana & toffee flavours, lifted with some floral notes and held together with a refreshing acidity. This dessert wine pairs perfectly with some Shropshire Blue cheese.
