bright, fresh and fruit-driven, made with a blend of sustainably grown, aromatic varieties that require minimal intervention in the vineyard. The grapes were pressed under nitrogen to retain their delicate flavours, with a proportion fermented in neutral oak to add complexity. Secondary fermentation was completed in tank using the Charmat Method, making this wine one of the first of its kind produced in England. This vibrant sparkling white is full of fresh lemon and pear. A crisp palate of melon and green apple lead to a bright finish, making it the perfect aperitif.
About Flint Vineyard
Ben Witchell’s journey into winemaking began with a passion for learning about wines from around the world. This enthusiasm soon turned into an obsession, prompting him to leave his IT job and pursue a career in winemaking. Ben enrolled in a three-year degree in Oenology and Viticulture at Plumpton College in Sussex. This comprehensive education not only deepened his understanding of winemaking but also instilled in him a respect for the science behind it. He graduated in 2012 with a first-class degree and awards for ‘Best Research Project’ and ‘Top Winemaking Student’.
Ben’s next step was a winemaking position in Beaujolais, France. This experience taught him to think creatively and intuitively, moving beyond the traditional rules of winemaking. After two years, Ben returned to England, eager to start his own winemaking venture. A chance email to local farmer and entrepreneur Adrian Hipwell led to the discovery of a suitable plot of land in Norfolk. Detailed site analysis confirmed the potential of the site, and Flint Vineyard was born. Ben moved to Earsham, Norfolk in 2015 and has since established a thriving vineyard with over 26,000 vines covering six hectares.
Flint Vineyard has gained a reputation for producing premium English still wines, and Ben has innovated with methods in the winery, including the creation of the Charmat Rosé, the first sparkling wine made using the Charmat method. With a state-of-the-art winery and plans for expansion, Ben and his team are excited about the future, striving to continually improve and produce exceptional wines.

Generous and soft on the palate, this wine is open and expressive, exhibiting delightful panettone-like aromas of sweet baked bread, dried apricots, nuts and candied citrus peels.

Character: Light, Fruit-forward
Aromas: Cherry, Wild Strawberry, Spice
Flavours: Red Fruits, Gentle Oak
Style: A light and summery English Red.
Food Pairing: Pair with lamb, game, or enjoy on its own.
A pale red Pinot Noir, the colour is deceptive, not revealing the powerful red fruits hidden within. Full of wild red fruit characters on the nose, the palate is soft, with intense red cherry and gentle spice from the time spent on oak. The perfect red for summer, ideal with a BBQ.
Winemaker's Notes: Just the ripest Pinot Noir was used for this light red. The grapes were crushed and fermented partly in tank and partly in barrel. Throughout the ferment regular pump overs were conducted to extract a little more colour and weight. The oaked proportion of the blend then spent a further 12 months in oak before being bottled.
Wine: Still Red
Grape Variety: Pinot Noir
Body: Light
Sweetness: Dry
Alcohol: 12%
